Bonfire night 2011

We certainly had our lucky pants on on Saturday the 5th of November. A perfect tide (as predicted by Helen Rollinson) allowed the perfect amount of beach for the bonfire. Add to that a fantastic team of people delivering wood, tree cuttings, boats and occasional tables, plus a talented fire building team and we had a Bonfire to be proud of waiting on the beach by 4 o'clock.

A still night meant that the fire ignited beautifully thanks to Jock and his gas torch.Once the Bonfire was safely alight, the assembled crowd moved up to the sailing club where the galley team of David, George, Joan, Andrea, Cara, Elizabeth and Jes produce 90+ hotdogs and the Bar team of Sandra, Helen, Michael John and Robyn provided liquid refreshment.

At 7:30 the Pyrotechnic team Adam, Jock, Alex and Rob entertained the crowd with a display which quite frankly humbled the Weymouth Town display (in my opinion).

Thank you to everyone who brought combustible materials, helped to build the fire, the pyrotechnic, Galley and Bar teams. Also a big Thank you to everyone who came to support us in the evening. It was great to see so many of you and I hope you all enjoyed the evening. Thanks to your generosity, we managed to pay for the food and fireworks and added a modest profit for the club.
