'Moraine Moonset' - Banff National Park, Alberta
When you've seen and shot some of the best landscapes on the planet it's easy to become jaded, especially when there are thousands of great photographs of every conceivable location. You'd think that might lessen the sense of awe these places inspire.
Moraine Lake in Alberta is without doubt the most gorgeous location I've ever had the pleasure to clap eyes on. Come in the daytime and you'll have to do battle with more photographers than even Mesa Arch in Utah.
Come after dark and you'll be lucky to bump into more than three photographers.
This night I'd hoped to catch the tail end of the Milky Way but the moon had other plans. First it popped up over the first peak and then slowly arced down to set over the next peak. I set the camera to shoot a load of 30" exposures while I clambered down the frosty covered rocks to create this selfie.
It was a magic night that kept on delivering as I next traveled to Bow Lake to shoot the aurora. Alberta just keeps on giving.
Man I LOVE Canada!
