Recreation Clerk: JOB TITLE:              RECREATION CLERK DEPARTMENT:      PARKS & RECREATION FLSA STATUS:       NON-EXEMPT FULL TIME:              YES ******************************************************************************************** JOB SUMMARY: This position in the Parks and Recreation Department is under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent.  The incumbent is responsible for a wide variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the Parks and Recreation Department. Employee types and proofreads various documents as well as verifies data for accuracy; attends Parks Boards meetings and takes minutes, and assists and informs the public either in person or on the telephone on various departmental policies and procedures or on other matters. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Perform general office and clerical duties including correspondence, reports, sports activity information sheets, league schedules and standings; compile data from rough draft and verbal instruction. * Answer telephone calls; assist the public; provide information on recreation programs, policies and procedures as required; forward messages to appropriate personnel as required. * Maintain budgets, records, purchase orders, and accounting ledger. * Collect fees for various memberships, activities, services, and programs; issue receipts for fees collected; maintain records of fee collection. * Maintain a department calendar for the gym and activity center; make appointments for recreation staff; schedule team practice times; schedule and assist with the clean-up of gym and activity center. * Operate a wide variety of office equipment including a copier, scanner, facsimile machine and computer. * Attend and take minutes at Parks Board meetings; transcribe, and distribute minutes to appropriate individuals. * Office atmosphere, climate controlled; sitting for long periods; lifting up to 50 pounds of materials and supplies. * Maintain appropriate appearance and personal hygiene. * Coordinate the maintenance of City Facilities and maintain repair records OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: * Performs other duties as assigned and required. * Some overtime or weekend work may occasionally be necessary. REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSE: * Graduation from an accredited High School or equivalent (GED) is required. * A valid Texas Driver's license and an acceptable driving record are mandatory. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: * Minimum of Two Years General Clerical Experience. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software. * Knowledge of Contemporary Office Procedures and Methodology. * Understanding of the Basic Principles of Recordkeeping, Bookkeeping, Spelling, Grammar, and Punctuation. Water Distribution Equipment Operator: JOB TITLE:               EQUIPMENT OPERATOR DEPARTMENT:        UTILITIES DISTRIBUTION AND COLLECTION FLSA STATUS:         NON-EXEMPT FULL TIME:               YES                                         ON CALL:      YES JOB SUMMARY:      Under the general supervision of the Utilities and Distribution Supervisor, the incumbent is to operate construction and maintenance equipment in support of a variety of maintenance activities including water and wastewater maintenance and repair; and to perform skilled maintenance task. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (This is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary). * Operate maintenance equipment such as cement mixers, skip loaders, backhoe, jet rodders, dump trucks, front-end loaders, jackhammers and various other equipment in support of a variety of maintenance and construction operations involving streets, sewers and water systems. * Excavate sewer lines and mains; backfill upon completion. * Perform the installation, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater mains and lines; make new water and sewer taps; build and raise manholes; build and replace valve boxes. * Install, repair and replace fire hydrants, valves and thrust boxes; flush fire hydrants as required. * Clean debris from ditches, culverts and creek beds. * Collect and haul trash, garbage, debris, dirt, sand and gravel. * Perform additional construction and maintenance task such as truck driving, jack hammering and a variety of minor repair activities. * Transport construction equipment. * Perform basic preventive maintenance on heavy and light equipment as required. * Maintain production logs and records. * Install street barricades and cones prior to the performance of repair activities; direct and control traffic around work sites; water down streets and flush drains. * Direct and control traffic around work sites. * Lift and carry up to 100 lbs. and pulls, pushes and drags up to 150 lbs. of street repair equipment.  While hooking up trailers and other equipment, crawls, climbs, kneels, squats, stoops and bends freely when driving or participating in water repair. * Sits or stands for extended periods of time while driving or participating in water repairs. * Hears clearly when working around equipment and in traffic. * Works outdoors in extreme temperatures (100 plus heat) below freezing, cold and inclement weather. * Some exposure to dust, fume and loud noises that are routinely encountered in street and alley maintenance operations. * Use proper safety precautions. * Responsible for the efficient and safe operation, care and appearance of assigned equipment. * Follows written and oral job instructions. * Uses good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly. * Hears clearly and interprets hand signals when working around equipment and in street and alley traffic, using proper safety precautions. * Serve on standby crew for after hour’s emergency work as required. * Maintain appropriate uniform appearance and personal hygiene. * Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment. * Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required. * Must be able to serve on scheduled call rotation. * Applicant shall be subject to a criminal background check. Water Plant Operator: JOB TITLE:               WATER PLANT OPERATOR                                   HILLTOP DEPARTMENT:        WATER FLSA STATUS:         NON-EXEMPT FULL TIME:               YES                                                     ON CALL:  YES JOB SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the Water Plant Supervisor, the incumbent is to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled technical and labor duties in the operation and maintenance of the City’s water treatment plant. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary). * Perform assigned treatment plant rounds inspecting, monitoring and documenting plant operations by reading plant equipment gauges, dials, graphs, and other instrumentation. * Operate and adjust treatment plant pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment to maintain appropriate plant operations; back wash filters. * Maintain appropriate flow of water through the control of gates and valves. * Maintain, compile and update plant operations logs and reports. * Perform and record mathematical calculations related to operational activities. * Mix and add treatment chemicals; ensure adequate chemical application according to regulations and guidelines. * Maintain, repair and service plant operations machinery and equipment including pumps, valves, motors, meters, tanks, and reservoirs; change lubrications. * Collect liquid samples; perform a variety of routine water quality laboratory tests; work closely with laboratory on testing processes. * Perform general plant facility maintenance such as cleaning, painting and repair plant facilities; perform a variety of grounds maintenance duties including mowing and trimming. * Responsible for the efficient and safe operations, care and appearance of assigned equipment. * Follows written and oral job instructions. * Uses good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly. * Hears clearly and interprets hand signals when working around equipment and in street and alley traffic, using proper safety precautions. * Maintain appropriate uniform appearance and personal hygiene. * Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment. * Work outdoors in temperatures of heat (100 degrees plus) and cold, freezing and inclement weather. * Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch for prolonged periods of time. * Exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, and infectious materials. * Carry, hold, and lift 100 pounds.  Pull, push and drag 150 pounds. * Work overtime, holidays and weekends as required. * Applicant shall be subject to a criminal background check. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: * Perform chemical storage duties. * Ensure proper storage of hazardous chemicals. * Maintain adequate supply of chemicals and supplies. * Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Two years experience performing water treatment plant operation duties preferred. Knowledge and practices of water plant operations; operating principles of plant equipment such as valves, pumps and motors; principles of natural sciences including chemistry and biology; laboratory analysis techniques and standards for water operational and safety regulations pertaining to water treatment plant operations and vehicle and equipment usage; sampling methods and technique and safe work practices.
