If you're painting at home and don't want that annoying smell, try this trick.  Cut an onion in half.  Then place each half "cut-side" down in a bowl with a little bit of water at the bottom.  The onion will absorb the smell!

Is dust a problem in your home?  Check the air filter(s) for the A/C unit.  If they get too dirty, dust will start to get through.  Also, vacuuming at least twice a week can make a big difference.  Other than that, just make sure you are dusting often by wet wiping surfaces when possible.  (FYI: if you really want to eliminate dust, you could get rid of your kids and any pets.)

TIP OF THE WEEK: You can use vinegar and baking soda to unclog and/or clean your kitchen drain. Pour a cup of baking soda into the drain followed by one cup of white vinegar. Cover quickly to create a foaming reaction. Leave it for 20 minutes. Last but not least, pour a pot of boiling water down the drain.

To remove chocolate stains from your clothes you should rinse off the excess chocolate with cold water. Rub liquid laundry detergent on the stain and let it soak in for about 5 minutes. Next, soak the clothing in cold water for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then wash how you would normally do.

Tip of the Week:  If you want to remove fingerprints from your stainless steel appliances look no further than club soda. Wipe your appliances with club soda that has gone flat. Grab a dry cloth and buff. It is an easy and cheap way to keep your stainless steel appliances looking great!!

Tip of the Week:  To remove a stain from your carpet, spread a generous amount of table salt on the stain. This will help absorb much of the stain. In a spray bottle, mix 1/4 teaspoon of non-bleach detergent with one quart of water. Shake to make sure it is mixed well. Spray the mixture onto the stain and wait at least 5 minutes. Take a clean cloth and clean with a daubing action. Do not scrub or wipe as it can push the stain deeper into the carpet.

I was looking around to find a good holiday cleaning checklist to make it easy to get ready for guests.  I found a good one on ThirtyHandmadeDays.com.  If you want an even more detailed list, try the one I found on Better Homes and Gardens. GO TO OUR HOME PAGE FOR LINKS.

Tip of the Week:  Next time you need to remove a stubborn ring from your toilet, try using a pumice stone.  Don't have one; google it.  They are very abrasive and can remove almost any stain with a little bit of elbow grease.  WARNING: Stone must be kept wet at all times or you WILL ruin your toilet!!!

Tip of the Week:  Try this quick fix for broken blinds.  Clean the broken blind well.  Then, using super glue, join the two broken pieces with a popsicle stick.  If you leave your blinds open or turn them down, be sure to put the stick under the blind.  If you like to turn them up, then glue the stick to the top so the stick will not be visible.  For extra camouflage, spray the popsicle stick white before gluing it down.
