Sometimes we get stuck in the world of afflictive thoughts and emotions. It is like being trapped in a thunderstorm. We forget that the Sun is always present. Connecting with Joy and Compassion helps us remember the healing qualities that are such an essential part of living. Please read more below. #mindfulness #compassion #healing #awakenedheartmind

Life is challenging. When pain arises we can become emotionally overwhelmed and engage in hurtful patterns of behavior that keep us stuck in suffering. Learning how to meet pain with compassion helps us stay open to life and the healing power of the awakened heart. #mindfulness #compassion #loving-kindness

Sometimes our beliefs can limit the lens through which we see ourselves and others. Mindfulness helps us notice what happens when we are caught in a mindtrap. We shift from being hooked in the content of the story to notice what is happening in body, mind, heart in the present moment. In this way we are shifting our energy where it is most helpful...where we can help ourselves shift from reacting to responding. Please read more in the article below. #mindfulness #meditation #compassion #healing #peace #spiritualpractice #wisdom

When we experience trauma our nervous and endocrine system is conditioned to continuously produce chemicals of fear. "The external stimulus (cause) is gone but the psychological habituation (reaction/defense/protect response) continues. If we can learn to turn towards the fear with curiosity and kindness, to observe what it feels like in the body instead of reliving the event through our thoughts and reactive emotions then we can begin to relate to it in a healing way. I've been reading #Christopher Germer book on "The Mindful Path to Self Compassion and it is a wonderful guide for learning how to "free yourself from afflictive thoughts and emotions" You can find guided meditations on his website http://www.mindfulselfcompassion.org/meditations.php

Please watch this short clip (8 mins), narrated by Saki Santorelli, describing the healing and grounding practice of mindfulness. A wonderful transformational practice where we live in the present which is the only place where wisdom and compassion reside.
