Question about the new Google Analytics 'Audiences' report

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't this view basically the same thing as comparing different custom segments at once?

Do you get anything different from this report that you wouldn't get from going to the 'source/medium' report and applying the different audience segments that you want to analyze?

If I have Google Analytics on a site deployed entirely through GTM, am I going to have to change the setup if I install Google Optimize?

When you look at GA event reporting, you can look at events by page. My question: How is page defined for an event hit?

Is it just based off the most recent pageview hit that preceded the event hit?

Or does page actually get sent with the event hit?

Asking because a client is going to be sending event hits that are preceded by a virtual pageview hit and I don't know if the events are going to look like they happened on the virtual page or the browser's current URL ... if that makes sense.

Users navigating from http to https

Are there any tracking implications for users who navigate from an http page to an https page?

I believe going from https to http will lose referrer information, but what about the other way around?

Problem with CASE WHEN & calculations

Hey everyone,

I'm making a calculated field for cost per lead. When I originally created it, it would spit out null if there were no leads. However, I would prefer for it to spit out 0 if there are no leads.

So I created a CASE WHEN that went as follows:
CASE WHEN (cost / leads) > 0 THEN (cost / leads) ELSE 0 END

However, whenever I have some sort of calculation in a CASE WHEN, it says I have an invalid formula.

Am I doing something wrong?

Calculated field to get 1st day of week

I'm trying to create a calculated field that will take a date and spit out the date of the first day of the week in which that date falls.

This will allow us to do rollups by week but display the first day of the week instead of using the ISO week number.

The calculated field would do something similar to the following:
INPUT → OUTPUT
9/13/2017 → 9/10/2017
9/14/2017 → 9/10/2017
9/22/2017 → 9/17/2017

The standard way to do this in excel is (if your date is A1): A1 - weekday(a1,3)
However, I get an error when I try a similar formula in Data Studio using the AdWords connector. When I try to do any math with the DAY dimension, I get an error.

Any ideas?

How to override utm

Hi all. I'm trying to figure out how to stop some internal utm parameters being passed into a URL from messing up session source attribution in GA.

I adjusted the GA pageview tag to manually set the location field with https://{{Page hostname}}{{Page path}} when the URL contains the internal parameters so that they don't hit GA & change the session's source information. But the internal sources are still showing up in my reports.

Any idea why?

When I use the GA debugger, &dl doesn't contain the utm parameters, but they are present in the "sent beacon" section.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Pre-Conversion analysis

Is there a way to view only sessions that occurred before the session where a user first converted?

We're trying to find usage patterns that are indicative that a user is likely to convert on the next session. So we would need to isolate only sessions that occurred before the session where a user converted. But I have no idea if there's a way to do that.

Thoughts?

I have NEVER seen this option in the property setting until today.

Besides bringing the Users metric into the source/medium report, what are the ramifications of toggling this on?

I read the content link to via the "users metric calculation" link, but it doesn't really clear up how toggling to "on" will affect reporting.

Does anyone have any clarity on this?
