I read a comment that really surprised me a few weeks ago about self-published authors. Years ago, it might have been true, but most of the self-pubbed authors I know actually put in a lot of work and time to make their books as great as they can be.

Up until recently, I never really considered racism in nursing. But the truth is, I deal with it on a very regular basis. Here's a few of my thoughts on it, and a few of my experiences as well.

Last month, I had to stop reading a book. Not because it was bad, but because I didn't want to know how it ended. I didn't want to go through something that could potentially happen in real life. But that doesn't mean I haven't stopped thinking about it. As a minority nurse, Jodi Picoult's Small Great Things was eye-opening to say the least, and I thought I'd write a few thoughts about racism in nursing, and nursing in general.
