I'm visiting India and right now at a remote place with on a really slow dialup connection. I'm talking 3kbps download speed. Every other social site (Twitter, FB) is inaccessible  but Google+ loaded up in a jiffy. Just amazing. #googleplus   #Google+

Incredible!

Huang Guofu didn’t let the childhood accident that left him armless at the age of four interfere with his love for painting. Instead, he taught himself to paint with his feet at the age of 12. He recalls staying up all night at times just to practice.

"Krechetnikov and his graduate student Hans Mayer decided to investigate coffee spilling at a fluid dynamics conference last year when they watched overburdened participants trying to carry their drinks to and fro. They quickly realized that the physics wasn't simple. Aside from the mechanics of human walking, which depends on a person's age, health, and gender, there is the highly involved science of liquid sloshing, which depends on a complex interplay of accelerations, torques, and forces."

May the light be with you. Happy Diwali everyone!

PS: Despite the awesomeness of this image, I'm wondering why there is a big swatch of light over what appears to be Kashmir and eastern provinces of Pakistan that border India. Are Diwali celebrations as big there as it is in rest of India? If it is, it's really something wonderful to know.
A view from NASA of India on Diwali.

I always dreamt of writing/getting mentioned in the New Yorker but I can live with its approximation -- The Atlantic :-)
