I recently attended a beginner home brewing class at Brooklyn Homebrew. The class was very helpful. I have had a home brewing kit since last Christmas but haven't touched it yet, probably out of uncertainty as to where to begin. The class definitely connected some of the dots. With any class, I felt at times it would've been nice to start a few steps back instead of making assumptions about knowledge. But, for the most part the class covered all of the basics. It definitely helps to visually see how to do things. The store itself is simple but nicely organized. There seems to be a wide selection of products for all levels of home brewers. This will likely be my go-to home brewing store as I get more into it. The staff members were very friendly. They let me keep my bike in the back area where the class was held. All in all, a good experience.

this shop is the best. for a small store they have a great selection and the flat rate shipping gets orders to my door the next day. top it all off with a friendly and helpful staff and you get a shop that I prefer over all the big online brew stores hands down.

Great selection of Homebrew ingredients, many different recipe kits too pick out. Their homebrew kit is one of the best pakages and most complete for the money. Has everything you need to make good beer, but its a few hundred bucks. Great location right near the 4av 9street subway stop.

These folks are providing exactly what New York City has been sorely lacking for such a long time - a good homebrew store. They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and always eager to help. Their selection is expansive, but if there is anything they don't stock, they are often happy to either begin stocking it or place a special order. Their prices are even competitive with the online megastores, which is something few local homebrew stores can boast! Perhaps most importantly, they are concerned not just about their bottom line, but about supporting the local homebrewing community (as evidenced by their close involvement with the NYC Homebrewers Guild), and taking every measure to ensure that their customers are happy with goods they receive as well as the end products they produce at home. While the competition seems to be mostly concerned with making a quick buck off of unsuspecting novices by selling catching-sounding kits that inevitably produce foul concoctions, Brooklyn Homebrew provides expert guidance and high quality ingredients to keep the customer happy and coming back. Although this is a very young business, they have already become a critical part of the NYC homebrewing community.
