Healthful Elements LLC's posts

"Everything you do right now ripples outward and affects everyone. Your posture can shine your heart or transmit anxiety. Your breath can radiate love or muddy the room in depression. Your glance can awaken joy. Your words can inspire freedom. Your every act can open hearts and minds."

-David Deida

We’re signing off. Until early 2016, that is.

After tomorrow, the whole Healthful Elements team is on vacation until early January.

No newsletters, no social media posts. We don’t even have anything scheduled or pre-loaded for publication on any of our social media sites.

We’re just going quiet.

Here's a photo from our pre-vacation holiday party last night. We were also joined by the hilarious and effervescent Healthful Elements alum, Mary. A joyous time was had by all!

And now, I’m already starting to feel that sense of “powered down” like when you lose electricity in a storm.

And we hope that you can find the same “quiet luxury,” even if it’s for a day. In fact, I’m asking you to join me for the Royal Pace Challenge.

I read a lot of stuff about hormones, autoimmunity, and integrative medicine. And when I mean a lot, I mean...a lot. Multiple tabs open at once. A stack of articles and books on my nightstand.

And one newsletter that I’ve remained royal to – I mean loyal to – is Dr. John Douillard’s. He’s an Ayurvedic doctor who’s a master at blending ancient wisdom with modern science.

He taught at the nutrition school that I graduated from, so he’s been on my radar for years.

In addition to being one handsome devil (swoon!), he’s such a voice of calm reason in this crazy world of nutrition and health that often screams, “Here’s a study that proves that this food is nectar of the Gods.” And then, “Oh wait, here’s a study that proves that it’s poison!”

So back to the Royal Pace. It’s not often that I have the kind of reaction to a post like I did when I read Dr. Douillard’s, “Take the Royal Pace Challenge.” I thought, “This is one of the best things I’ve EVER read! How luxurious!”

He says, “I think we would all agree that our pace of life has just become way too fast. Too much to do and no time to do it. Soon, life itself becomes a struggle.

“We could never imagine the Queen of England running down the hall, racing to a meeting, or woofing down some fast food or a protein shake before a quick workout. It would be out of character for her to lose her temper, get anxious and show visible signs of stress.

“We are all playing the game of life. Often, we take this thing way too seriously. You might find that, as a ‘royal,’ you can actually do less and accomplish more, and maybe get a glimpse of something even more profound: the possibility of doing nothing and accomplishing everything. Think about that one.”

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year.

“See” you next year!
