Should we attempt to bring technology to the level of human consciousness?

+Ian Terry Roy MacLeod Maybe, I like your insightful concepts.5w
+Steg human Lots of growing to do! If we completely order ourselves into a strict code or complex, like the current exploited monetary sytem could develop into; then indeed well may have areas that collapse for a time unless we still have all of our shit, just depends on if it is organized in such a time by technological minded people; not politicians of subjective worth. IE, growth is adaptation. Balancing such probably is not good to be granted to one person or some small hidden group..Yet a great book that took me deep in thought about all this was the Foundation series by Asimov. Thanks!5w
Evolution has gone too far, doubt a planetary economy is enough; better left for sci-fi.4d
+Balder Oddson Evolution just is...Our perception and alteration of it is what could go too far.
To keep thought only on the ancient humans and the like of other life forms, is only half of what the universe has to offer, if we take that responsibility in name and action. Indeed it will get cold, we could be cold before hindsight, but in trust of our efforts now and in years to come, are not clueless if we keep the pressure on.4d
+Ian Terry Roy MacLeod Not sure what you are talking about, but I have mind that an average human brain is about 1 exaflop. The fastest computer in the world is 10% of that and draws 8 MW/h of power, the brain is 20 watts. Comparing energy efficiency alone Intel is about a coinflip, while we are 99,9999% energy efficient or some such. I mean it when i say evolution has gone far. In certain aspects you can just forget about AI based on digital computers and the like.3d
+Balder Oddson Yay, you are average! Good job! lol You know, even between concisely adapting by rewriting the design, ie self replicating machines that think, will statistically have average intellects to each other...and the extremes. All I am saying is that we should not let AI, for what it could be on its own. That would be going too far too soon, to potentially extinct humanity versus, evolve or merge. It does not matter how smart you think our brains are and how far behind computers are.
I enjoy Chess, but I only ever seem to win on a medium difficulty by fluke when playing my cell. My cell, is a Pet in a way. I protect it, and only time will tell for what will comes of out technology. IE, research and development needs to be ramped up, not subdued for religious ideologies or the like.
It sounds to me, you think we should stop using technology altogether?3d
