The Bitches say B. A gorgeous ambiance and interesting menu choices, but in the end many of the dishes were too smoky and overwhelming for our brunch palate. Read more on our site!

What We tried - the Fried Chicken Sunday Supper for 2. It came with: Spicy Collard Greens, Mashed Potatoes & fried chicken Gravy, Mac & Cheese, Corn Bread, homemade pickles, pickled okra & pickled green onions, and a red onion coleslaw. On Sundays they only serve their Sunday Supper - call ahead of time any day after Wednesday/Thursday to find out what's on the menu. It was like going home, if home was in the south and my mom made fried chicken. I don't usually eat the skin on fried chicken (yes, I know it's the best part, but unless it's well done it's chewy... not a fan). This fried chicken was Delicious though, I ate the crispy outer crust and even wanted more. It was the perfect combination of salty and crispy and the chicken was done perfectly. Also, I've never had collard greens. I thought i wouldn't like them, but these were amazing, albeit a bit too spicy for me. On the mashed potatoes: I have VERY high standards for my mashed potatoes. These were by far some of the best I've had at a restaurant. They still had bits of the peel in there, but the pieces were too big. The Creamy, salty, fluffy ratio was perfect, and the gravy was a great treat - though it could have had more of the fried chicken flavor. Everything else was amazing! My boyfriend loved the corn bread, and the pickles. For Service, we had called ahead of time (we had heard that Fried Chicken Sunday Supper was popular), so were seated as soon as we arrived. Our server was prompt with our drink order, and was attentive throughout the meal. It is pricier than your usual dinner - a decent special date night range (around $80 for 2 with Drinks). We had a Gilt City deal on it so that helped keep the price more in our range.

I had high hopes for Carriage House and while nothing was bad in terms of the food or the experience, I left feeling a bit disappointed. There were four of us and we decided to share 6 or 7 of the small plates. I'd say the scallops and the shrimp and grits were the best of the lot. I was really excited for the cornbread and the sweet potato gratin and neither one left me wanting more. I did like the interior and I can imagine that it's fun in the summer with the outside dining area.

I came here to try the low country boil, and was not disappointed. The enormous bowl was perfect for two, and the bread acted like the perfect buttery sponge for the broth. The atmosphere during the day was rather quiet, but the windows on all sides made the place feel like a nice place to spend a lazy afternoon. Since that boil was so large, we weren't able to try much else, but I can't wait to get back and travel the rest of the South.

The sunday night supper is a gem. Family style dinner for reasonable price. Breakfast is great as well.

My went on Sunday for my moms birthday and had a great experience. The food was amazing, our waiter was great and loved the atmosphere. If you like southern food, this is a great place to enjoy!

In a city where brunch can seem overdone, there is Carriage House. You can make a reservation. HOW CIVILIZED. Their food is sumptuous in all the good Southern ways, with right-sized portions. My go-to brunch includes the donuts with caramel glaze dip, French-press coffee, and the mushroom grits. Do not pass 'GO!' without the grits. I prefer the mushroom or the head-on shrimp (watch out pescatarians, it comes with pork) to the short rib. The chicken and biscuits are bold and in size can be intimidating, so tackle it in a pair. They think of everything. If you sit on the porch in winter (don't worry, it's warmed with heaters), they give you flannel blankets. If your phone can't catch the song, the waiter will Shazam it for you (yes, that happened).

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic brunch experience at this place. I think we both ordered pretty well - he got the Fried Chicken, and I got the Mushroom & Grits. His Fried Chicken was absolutely amazing - the sausage gravy definitely made the dish. The Mushroom - mushroom & grits with a poached egg - was what I ordered and I would assume that is something that most people skip over, but it was delicious. The mushrooms were smoky and the grits were perfect! I love the ambiance and the atmosphere, and we sat outside on the patio area. The only negative thing I have to say was that I was carrying an iced coffee when I walked in, and they made me throw it away. Come on people, it's not the end of the world. Luckily, the food made up for it!
