I am a new patient at Dr Zak Dental Care. Today was my first visit. I went to their new office at 23838 Valencia Blvd in Valencia. The office is brand new, bright and outfitted with the most up to date equipment. I was cheerfully greeted by Vanessa and Jennifer, even though I was 15 minutes late. Vanessa took me through the new patient sign in quickly and efficiently. Jennifer took me in for x-rays and made it a quick and painless process. Michelle explained all of the dental care plans and Dr Fatahi came in and gave me my check up. They were both very friendly and extremely professional, taking the time to explain everything and give me options for treatment. I was able to squeeze in a teeht cleaning while I was there too. Dr . Rai cleaned my teeth and like everyone else I had met this morning, she was friendly and extremely professional. She was finished before I knew it. I am very happy my family made the change to Dr. Zak Dental Care.

I am a new patient to Dr. Zak Family dentistry, I had my some cleaning procedure done at this dentist, I am extremely disappointed about this dentist! I have total 3 sessions for cleaning my teeth, first session was good, then 2nd session was like doing something in a rush, my total cost was about $900. I don't feel it is worth the cost. Today I had my return appointment, I took a half day off from work, and I went the appointment, the dentist just asked me about my night guard, it was just 1 min! it could be done by phone, I had no idea why they asked me to make this appointment! I am not recommend this dentist at all, not professional dental!

Sheena we are sorry to see this review. If you feel there was anything inadequate about your periodontal treatments please come in so we can check your gums and talk about it. If we find any additional cleaning is necessary we will provide that treatment at no charge on the same day. As far as your night guard is concerned, it is critical that these type of appliances are check after delivery and periodically there after. Incorrectly adjusted or improperly used night guards can lead to TMJ problems. Your visit was necessary but we are sorry if we didn't adequately explain why.

I first went to Dr. Zak in 2011. The dentists are capable, courteous, and professional. They explain everything, give you the available choices, and their fees are reasonable. Jack Burch

Dr. Zak is excellent for patients who have a fear of dentistry. He is extremely kind & compassionate. His exams are very thorough and a visit with him is the best way to care for your teeth. Dr. Chung is also an outstanding dentist who is both expert in his discipline and extremely personable in his approach to patients.
Response from the owner - 10 months ago
Thank you very much for the wonderful review. We all try extra hard when we have fearful patients to make them feel at ease.

I want to congratulate and commend all those I met and dealt with today. Dr. Kopel, Tony was exceptional as was Angela and Maria. All of these individuals made my experience run smoothly and I could stay very focused with their assistance. A truly fine experience and I shall recommend this office to others. Thank you for this opportunity to give these people my support, Susan Johnson

I had just moved to Simi Valley and found Dr. Zak online. I was in a lot of pain & had no insurance. The immediate assistance & compassion I received upon my first appointment was heart warming. Very professional office & always on time. I appreciate the services and the payment plan I was offered and will continue to encourage anyone who is new to give them a try. You will not be disappointed. Thank you!

THE WORST DENTIST/EXPERIENCE OF ALL TIME! I went to Dr. Zak's office this afternoon with a broken tooth, that has become infected and they would NOT help me in ANY way unless I came up with cash to remove the tooth immediately!!! Since I didn't have the money - I left. The staff was incredibly rude and the facility was FILTHY! I don't know how they can clean teeth if they can't even clean the floors, counters, offices, etc. It was absolutely disgusting and I would NOT recommend Dr. Zak to my worst enemy. The lady in the back was rude, condescending, had a horrible attitude and when she saw I was upset she said 'what did you expect to happen?'. I left in tears and in more pain than I was in before I stepped foot in that nasty place. I saw that they had 'write a Google review and receive a 15 dollar discount on your next visit', posted all over that place, so here is my review. DR. ZAK AND HIS STAFF SUCK!!

Cerissa As all our patients already know we provide excellent dental care at very reasonable fees. But we are not a FREE CLINIC. Dr Zak took time out of his Sunday afternoon to write prescriptions for you even though you were never in our office and not a patient of record. Good luck finding any other doctor to do that for you. You were a very happy patient until we informed you that you would actually have to pay for your services requested. We don't really understand that. Did the pharmacy fill your prescriptions without payment? Did the gas station give you free gas so you could drive to our office? Is your internet provider giving you free high speed modem so you can write this review on Google? We think not. And we are sure anyone reading your review can see it for what it is.

First time experience was pleasant. Office staff was warm and helpful. Dr. Zak was very straight-forward in explaining our options. I felt very comfortable with him and look forward to having him as my new dentist. Made another appointment for an Ortho consult. Looking forward to the same experience.

Ryan we appreciate your comments. Hope your orthodontic consultation goes well.

ORAL HYGIENE
A lot of plaque and bacteria builds up right along the gumline and can cause gingivitis and bleeding.
Bleeding is a sign of bacterial infection and is often a result of improper brushing or flossing.
Often times, people miss these areas and brush only their teeth. It is important to brush gently along the gumline at a 45° as well as other areas of the teeth in shorter more precise strokes.
A minimum of 2 minutes is required to do a thorough job of brushing and use soft bristled

ORAL HYGIENE
Oral hygiene is an important part of cavity prevention at home in between checkups.
Flossing is the only way to remove the plaque and food in between your teeth that your toothbrush CANNOT remove. Dentists recommend that you floss two times a day.
It only takes about 90 seconds so get into this good habit.

ORAL HEALTH
Oral health is imperative and is the window to your overall health. More than 500 species of bacteria can thrive in the mouth. "Recent research suggests that there may be an association between oral infections — primarily gum infections — and poorly controlled diabetes, cardiovascular disease and preterm birth." This is why proper oral hygiene is imperative for not only a healthy mouth, but a healthy body as well.

TOOTH DECAY AMONG CHILDREN
By Dr. H. Kopel
According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention tooth decay is the leading disease among children in the United States. Tooth decay is preventable by proper oral hygiene, avoidance of foods containing sugar or starches, as well as sealants and fluoride treatments provided by your dentist.
A child’s baby teeth should be cleaned as soon as they start erupting through the gums by the parents. This should include brushing and flossing. As soon as the child starts spitting out their toothpaste instead of swallowing it, professional and home fluoride applications may start. The most important time to clean the teeth is at night before bed. The teeth should be brushed, flossed and then any recommended fluoride solutions should be applied. Only water should be ingested afterwards. Small children should be weaned off of night time milk and juice as soon as possible.

DENTAL SEALANTS
Dental sealants act as a barrier to prevent cavities. They are a plastic material usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars) where decay occurs most often.
Thorough brushing and flossing help remove food particles and plaque from smooth surfaces of teeth. But toothbrush bristles cannot reach all the way into the depressions and grooves to extract food and plaque. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas by “sealing out” plaque and food.
