About a year ago I announced here my project to write an #opensource   program for stacking astrophotos. Now it's finally beginning to be what I originally visioned.

The program is for Linux and works from both command line and graphically. It can calibrate, preprocess and stack photos taken with most consumer DSLR's.

Feel free to give any comments, ideas and feature requests as well as file bugs.

Manual for Mosstack's command line interface is somewhat ready. Version 0.6 of the program is also on the way. Release candidate has been out for a while and final probably this year. More downloads in https://bitbucket.org/mikko_laine/pyastrostack/downloads

See Section 2 from the attached pdf.

Triangulum Galaxy and other shots from September 30th
I failed at shooting the Triangulum Galaxy the last time, but now I had a bit better conditions. Seems like the 150 second exposures before were result of a extreme luck with alignment. This time even 120 s seemed to trail a bit but 100 second worked. Here'...

Proper alignment of EQ3-2 and first photos of the season
I've had problems with aligning the EQ3-2 even though I have a polar scope. For some reason I misunderstood the instructions totally. I always assumed the scope shows some kind of fish eye view and the constellations visible should cover the real stars. Nop...

Mosstack 0.5.1 released.  That is "Mikko's Open Source Stacker for astronomical photos", a somewhat working, extremely limited replacement for DeepSkyStacker or IRIS.

No binary packages for this minor release.
