Someone was misquoted in the press! I'm incredulous. This story is clearly just one of many urban legends. We have all heard it before......this is exactly what happened to my colleagues best friend's cousin's biology professor, and I can't find that blog either. Too bad, because at the end of one of these trails is the guy who has the 300mpg carburetor, and probably also (with apologies to Jay Ingram) the Sasquatch.
It always seems disingenuous when people...(..nothing special about scientists here, well credentialed or not.)... complain they were mis-quoted or (perhaps it is worse...mis-represented) in the media. As they say in Texas (if not then they should)...."if you are going to play with the Bull, every once in a while you are going to get the horn!"
The real story here will be to watch to see how long before the mystery scientist relents.
