World Politics - Sadly, this statement says:

“The US doesn’t care who you kill, even a US permanent resident, as long as the money keeps rolling in”.

This may have been ever true, but to say it publically, for every despot in the world to hear, is another thing altogether.

Here’s some analysis:

Finally, I can have a proper read!!!

This will have to do until the POD version comes out!

Also, learn a bit more about making a zine (spoiler, it’s a bit tricky, but strangely rewarding!). I’m still rubbish at it ...

For those (like me) who are tooooo obsessed with pseudo hexagonal arrays!
An HTML implemetation that could be super useful.
Woot! i finally figured out how to simulate hexagons using HTML tables! Here's the proof of concept...

The main trick is setting the "display" attribute for the TR and TD elements, as their default display modes don't support margins.

Edit: note that all of the display logic in this demo is handled by CSS - there is no JavaScript going on.

With a bit of JavaScript attached to it, we'll be able (i think) to do tall-grain maps as well, plus generate one fewer cell on the "short" rows/columns. (Edit: tall grain doesn't need JS: see an example in the comments.)

As a proof of concept, do you think this works (could work) for a Social Encounter? It probably needs tweaking.

Basically, the PC (i.e. the persuader) is trying to get to the top of their Hex Flower before the person being persuaded (the 3rd party) gets to the bottom of their Hex Flower (runs out of patients/attention span etc.).

The engine presupposes that the person being persuaded needs persuading!

To make the engine less than pure random, there are points associated with CHR, INT and WIZ that can be spent to influence the encounter.

I should be asleep!!!

I don't normally blog, but I thought I'd just explain the key concepts/rational behind the simple, versatile and useful 2D6 + 19-Hex Flower game engines that I’ve recently been making. Maybe this will encourage others to write their own engines using this (or a similar) system.
