horrible experience: 1. wait time was ridiculous. we were there at 5pm and asked for table of 5. Host told us the wait times was 45 mins. A lot of people who came before us and same time as us got seated around 45 mins mark even a big table for 15, but no table for us. So we asked how much longer, again was told not long just another 20 mins. Ok, so we waited again, at 20 mins mark still no table. Went to ask the host again and was told not much longer, until about 1 hour later then we got a table and not a table just for us but a communal table shared with other people. All this time when we were waiting, we overheard a family who came and put their name down at noon and still had to wait 1 hour. 2. we ordered mostly the popular dishes (chk+waffle, etc). food was so overrated. waffle was soggy, chk lacking flavour. overall bad experience, not worth the wait. A host should know exactly what the wait time for table. Don't keep customer waiting and give fake wait time just to get their money. bad way of doing business.

This restaurant is obviously very popular. But in my opinion doesn't quite live up to the hype. Service was ok - they were very busy. The food was a little underwelming. Farmers bread was great. Chicken and waffles just ok.

Excellent food, experience, service and presentation. Highly recommend Founding Farmers in DC - definitely plan to go back. I enjoyed the ambience, especially after San Francisco. Great food, great price with no pretension. I ordered the fried chicken and waffle with mac and cheese. They even have craft sodas like lemongrass phosphate. The bar is very social and seems like a great after work hangout.

Yesterday, my husband and I ate lunch at Founding Farmers with our grandson, Cole, who works there part time. The experience was outstanding. The meal was delicious! My husband had the chicken pot pie and although it was different, he loved it. My tomato soup and salad were perfect. Our server was excellent, the supervisor, Ellen came over to our table and gave us extra attention which made us feel very special. This restaurant is a place not to be missed if you are coming to DC, you will not be disappointed!

The two of us had brunch here on one of the days in visiting DC. We walked in around 1ish on a Saturday and the place was a zoo! There were a ton of people waiting by the doorway and stairway. We had to maneuver through the crowd to get to the host. We were quoted 1.5 hour and was told the bar is open/self seating. Lucky for us 2 seats opened up within 10 minutes. We shared the chicken & waffles and the founding farmers breakfast. The chicken & waffles, I must say is one of THE best I've had. The chicken had a nice light batter and was so moist and juicy. It got me craving for more days after. The waffle was also really good. It was light and airy. The founding farmers was a traditional breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns, and an English muffin. Nothing was spectacular about this aside from the hash browns. It was done perfectly. The bloody mary was delicious! Strong and spicy BUT didn't come with celery! Service was okay. The bartender was super busy. We had to ask for ketchup a couple of times.

Ate there last night with a party of 4 (2 of us had eaten there before) Everything was perfect and could not have been better. Service was VERY accommodating (We had a very small issue the last time and they wanted to rectify the problem) We had the fried green tomatoes, and cornbread to start... I highly recommend both. The filet and Pork Chops for my wife and I... To be honest I don't know which was better. We would have had dessert but we're stuffed. Go here if you have the chance, it won't disappoint.

Bacon lollis are a must, great service and amazing food. But, you must call ahead for a reservation, you will not be able to walk in and get a table.
