One of the most memorable places from my trip to DC. Staff was very friendly and informative. More importantly, the food was delicious. Ordered way too much for breakfast but that's besides the point. We started off the course with their homemade beignets. Scrumptious. Definitely try their stuffed french toast. My advice - order and share this dish because its way too much for one person. The waffles were airy, soft, but with just enough crisp. Compliment your meal with their french press coffee!

I have dined in this place at pretty regularly when I lived in DC. I moved recently but I still have the enthusiasm to still come here and get my favorite. I used to get their chicken pot pie and the pasta with goat cheese and sweet potato. They were really delicious. I highly recommend those items. Why 4 stars... the restroom...the times that I was there, the faucet water pressure was really weak and the light was minimal. It is a shared restroom. Also, my husband ordered ribeye medium well, he didn't enjoy it. He said it was kind of dry and served well done.

Hi Sharon! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I'm so glad our chicken pot pipe and goat cheese pasta got you coming back! I am however sadden to hear that your husband's ribeye was not cooked to temperature! In the future, please do not hesitate to let your server know, as we'd love to fix the issue right there, and ensure you leave happy and full. Lastly, I have our management team looking at the bathroom, thank you for alerting us. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience, and please do let us know the next time you're visiting us again, I'll have your chicken pot pie and pasta on stand by :)

We had a great experience at Founding Farmers DC. Firstly, by 7:30, they were running on a 1 hour and 15 min wait for walk-ins. Fortunately, we had a reservation already set for 8:45. When I checked us in at 8:25, they still had over an hour wait for walk-ins. I was worried that we would get pushed beyond our 8:45 reservation, but they came out to get us between 8:40 and 8:45 (so I would definitely recommend getting a reservation, and getting one at least 2-3 days in advance - that's what we did and that's why we couldn't get an earlier time, but that didn't bother us). One issue when we eat out is that my wife is severely allergic to shellfish. Our waitress was incredible with her allergy - she checked and double checked everything we ordered to make sure she would be safe. While we didn't get to have our first 2 choices of appetizer (because they fry the food in the same fryer as the shrimp), we prefer to not have to rush to the ER. Our waitress was extremely apologetic, but we completely understood and thanked her for her diligence. The food we were able to have was amazing. It came out in a very timely manner, despite the restaurant being packed, and it tasted great. I would absolutely recommend eating here when in DC. We had an incredible time, and will certainly be coming back.

Visiting DC for my daughters 4th birthday! Stumbled upon this restaurant. Looks unsuspecting from the outside, almost like a mall cafeteria but SO glad we didn't judge a book by its cover. The inside is absolutely gorgeous and we even got a little history lesson on the historical prohibition bar from our wonderful server. They were nice enough to fit us in even without reservations and the place was packed. Food was delicious, portions were huge and the price was more than fair. Get the kettle corn and the chicken wings!! I'm so sick of the whole "farm to table" thing but this place does it right! 😍

What ana amazing place to eat! Our server was excellent and recommended great things for us. We had to wait a little longer on our reservation and Oscar our sitter went out of the way to give us free appetizers to quench our hunger for waiting. This is some of the greatest service I've ever had! The Mac and Cheese is unique and to die for. I also couldn't get enough of the blue cheese bacon salad was delicious. I definitely recommend it.

Food is fresh and fantastic. Although the chicken pot pie was unorthodox (no pie crust just a biscuit) it tasted fantastic. Their salads are always fresh and tasty. The roasted chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. Their snow pea and cucumber salad is light and healthy. The water is also served in the classic glass milk bottles and cups which really adds to the farm atmosphere. The interior decor is cozy yet modern. This is a GREAT place to bring your coworkers for lunch or your family for dinner. I highly recommend you always make a reservation. The lady looked at me funny when I said I didn't have a reservation around lunch time (I guess they are normally very busy). They got some of our side dishes wrong but the waiter was super nice about it and quickly fixed the problem. Service here is solid.

Waited far to long to try it. Ordered their 'french toast' by accident because I'm dense and can't understand a menu pre-coffee. Best mistake ever. Made from whole baguette slices soaked in the best egg/cream concoction, they were perfect in subtle sweetness and substance. As a hater of maple syrup, I was quite pleased with theirs which actually made the dish. So much else on the menu is luring us back, mostly for dinner. A real great find for a bustling but relaxed meal any time of day.
