Founding Farmers DC is certainly a popular place, which makes that my expectations grow with the time waited in line with others waiting for a table to become available. It can be hard to get through the crowds with a stroller and a little child, but upstairs it can be a bit quieter and staff is always helpful to get you there. The food is okay and at times fine, but I am still waiting to be blown away. Maybe I am expecting too much, because the place is so popular. Maybe I need to get accustomed to food in the US being overall prepared a little more bland than what I have grown accustomed to. I'll give Founding Farmers another try, because it is so conveniently located just a few minutes from our house. I'll ask for the chef's favourites next time

They have managed to make a dish as simple as bacon and eggs with toast a sensuous and memorable experience. The bacon is thick and not too overdone. The eggs fluffy and flavorful. The toast a perfect balance between crunchy and chewy. The best place for brunch in the whole city, easily.

One of my favorite restaurants of all time. We went there for lunch during a recent trip and loved it so much that we went back for breakfast the next day. They have amazing food and the atmosphere is perfect. It's an absolute must! (The beignets were supreme!)

Thank you, Brandon! We love hearing that we are your favorite :-) We can't wait to have you back for another meal soon! In the meantime, our beignets will be waiting for ya!

Indeed farm to table has become quite cliché, but it can be done right and it can be done wrong. Founding Farmers has potential but doesn't live up to the hype. The quality of food screams "we're trying too hard". The food menu is basically a glorified Cracker Barrel of country cooking, but boasting higher quality ingredients. This may be the case, but the preparation leaves off flavors of whatever preceded it on the grill.

So disappointed here. The hype surrounding this place was huge and I had been trying to grab a table for weeks. For the price, you can do so much better. The food was one dimensional for the most part and not very creative. The best part of my meal was the wine. Too many farm to table spots in DC to make this worth the trip.

1 hour wait, 100% worth it!! Got the Farmers Platter and asked for Mac&Cheese in place of their Potato Salad. Crazy good, the slider burgers were actually really small though, much smaller than their buns. Butter Squash ravioli also is a great choice. Got the Chocolate mousse bowl and cheesecake for dessert, cheesecake was a 10/10 and the mousse is very chocolatey so I advise splitting with 3 people maybe, but it was also fantastic.

Farm to table has become something of a cliche, but this place practices what they preach, truly working with local and regional producers to bring you incredibly high quality cuisine. Beautiful space, a well thought out and accommodating menu, great servers, and a terrific beverage program. Be sure to make a reservation during popular hours, and keep in mind that the noise level can be rather high during peak hours if that is an issue for any members of your party.
