What a great idea!  We'll be peeling potatoes for mashed potatoes for Passover, and now we can treat ourselves to a snack for all our hard work!  I've always roasted butternut seeds, but now I'll make potato skin chips a regular, too.

Cool, our own display-model set of rings to study.  What we may learn?  Who knows?  We're like Johnny 5 still (dating myself!); we just need more data.

So sad, and so idiotic.  Identify these villages and preserve them as "cultural gems" -- and tourist meccas.  And the master woodpress artists mentioned in the article who were scattered should have been set up as a business, and marketed its truly, authentically "artisanal" product online.  What a waste of irreplaceable treasures.  Marching forward doesn't have to mean trampling the past.  Or does it?

I love the idea of a laptop you could roll up or fold up and put away in your bag.  Also, a true, foldable digital newspaper might find a small but fierce market.

I realize this is old news, from 10/28/11, but it hasn't made its way to market yet (that I'm aware of).  Cool; could become a trigger point to change how we interact with computers.

I've had a bad week, philosophically speaking. The confluence of the UN report on climate change  http://nyti.ms/1fdi6ad  and the recent Supreme Court ruling  http://nyti.ms/1pQzTFN  led me to a dark place. The UN report says that unless we make drastic changes soon, it will be too late. The Supreme Court ruling suggests that making those changes to the status quo may be even harder.  I guess everything is up for sale for the highest bidder, including our planet and future.
A United Nations report warned that climate change is already having sweeping effects and the poorest nations are likely to feel the most severe impacts.

Leonard Nimoy announces his OCPD.  His message: stop smoking now, not when you're diagnosed.  I, and all his fans, wish him well.  LLAP.

Banh Mi in Stamford!! I could hardly believe it. But now we have Saigon Cafe, a tiny place run by personable and helpful staff. Nine kinds of Banh Mi (a fantastic sandwich of pork pate or other meat; crunchy, pickled vegetables; cilantro; and spicy sauce on toasted French bread), Pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup) and ramen noodle soup. Even bubble tea!! Everything I've had has been delicious. It's bare-table, luncheonette "decor" -- i.e., it's the real thing. I'm... so grateful.
