After being late to our show in Davis Square Theater, myself and the lovely lady thought we could salvage the night with a refined looking restaurant like Foundry on Elm. The classic lamps and decorative exterior beckoned for an intimate evening. We were wrong. The atmosphere was loud and boisterous, we were seated right next to the speakers, the bar, and the doors that were constantly opening and closing, offering a draft every few minutes that kept our jackets on. The price seemed a little too steep, $24 for an 8 oz. steak and french fries, conveniently labeled "Steak Frites" to trick you into believing the facade. Well, after being told by our waitress three times that our food would be "out in a minute", we wasted an hour of our time for nothing. I was not trying to be "that guy", but I'm sure the food would've been fantastic if it took a whole hour to cook. Overall terrible experience, but at least I wasn't forced to pay for my water and bread.

Love this place!! Great location across from Joshua tree. As soon as you walk in you are transported back in time to a classy hip speak-easy feeling restaurant. The staff is dressed in white dress shirts with black vests and ties/bowties and everyone is wicked friendly. There is a long bar on one side with high top tables and booths on the other side with a formal dining area in the back. We were seated in a booth near the front which was wicked comfortable and our waitress came over to help us immediately. There beer and wine selection is great but the thing that stuck out to me most was there whiskey & scotch selection. Wow! I saw whiskey's on the menu that I had never heard of before. Additionally, their appetizer and entree selections all sounded amazing. We went with the poutine as an appetizer which rocked and followed it up with the local grass-fed burger which I added grilled vidalia onions & portobello mushrooms to and was out of this world!! From the restaurant to the staff to the food, this is definitely a place that everyone needs to check out the next time they are in the area!!

I've been here a couple times now for dates out with the boyfriend and I really love it. Its warm and cozy and inviting but big enough for you to have a little anonymity. I don't care for places that are so small you feel like you're in someone's living room. The food is fantastic, albeit a little pricey for small portions. The valentines day set menu was amazing and gave me a chance to try some new things, like trout caviar.

Great spot for food and drink in Davis Square! This place is on the pricier side and a little more upscale compared to the other places in Davis, but the food is good and the drinks are also great. There aren't that many vegetarian options as I would hope, but the flatbreads were good. Portions tend to be on the smaller side so beware if you are really hungry!

I want to love Foundry on Elm, it's a gorgeous bar with a great rotating selection of beer, but my experiences there have just been way too inconsistent to rate it higher than 3 stars. A new chef had brought some awesome changes to the menu: house charcuterie & pate, smart seafood, etc., but she is no longer with the restaurant. Saloon (below) is the same ownership, and a much easier choice for consistent high-quality service (more cocktails & whiskey, substantially less beer) that has a much better sense of identity. I will keep trying Foundry occasionally, and update my review with future experiences.
