Great post on HTML5 Rocks on the new <picture> element that's landing in Chrome 38.  Covers all the important stuff like using it for art direction, DPR selection, viewport based selection and more.

We're currently implementing asynchronous call stacks in Chrome DevTools. (You may have seen the little "Async" checkbox in Sources?) And we're looking for your feedback!

Our current status:
Done: setTimeout, setInterval, requestAnimationFrame, XHR, addEventListener, MutationObserver
In progress: Promises, CustomElement lifecycle callbacks

Take a look at crbug.com/272416#c30 - We're looking for feedback on what callstack makes most sense in some cases (XHR, img.onerror). For example, for img.onerror, you'd probably want to see where img.src was assigned, rather than where the addEventListener('error',… was bound..

Feedback very welcome!

Every mobile browser adds a 300ms delay onto tap interactions. But it's gone in Chrome 32 (beta)! Here's why & how http://updates.html5rocks.com/2013/12/300ms-tap-delay-gone-away

High performance animations

Details: http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/speed/high-performance-animations/

TL;DR Most modern browsers can animate these four properties cheaply. If you animate anything else chances are you'll bust your frame budget and miss out on 60fps.
