Although you may have to wait in line with or without reservations, Stepho's is by far the best Greek restaurant I have been to. Inside, the place is cozy and decorated in Greek style. The portions are enormous, the prices are fair, and the food is delicious. You must try their warm pita bread! Take my advice and come on an empty stomach ;)

Used to love this place! Not so much anymore. My husband and I ordered take out on a beautiful Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago (any West End local knows to only order take out from here on a Saturday, unless you wanna que up 10 years to dine in) ... That will probably be our last visit. Not only did we get an estimated pick up time of over an hour (which surprised us a little, but we waited anyway) when we arrived to pick up our order, we found that the food was near cold already like it had been sitting there for over half an hour ... No one even thought to call to let us know our dinner was ready! And to add insult to injury, our order wasn't even correct! They completely screwed it up, we ordered a chicken Souvlaki, lamb Souvlaki, and the fried cheese. What we got was a pork Souvlaki, beef Souvlaki, and a spinach pie ... The order receipt had our names and # on it, but what was in the bag did not match ... We tried to bring it back to have it corrected but were shot down upon entering the back door. This place USED to be great! If you're a traveler and have read about this place in any travelers book as a great place to eat, you can forget that recommendation you can avoid it cause you will more than likely be extremely dissatisfied. Yes the prices are reasonable, and the portion size is not like it used to be 5-10 years ago, but still decent. There are other fantastic places to eat in the West End! (Samurai on Davie! Just a few doors down!) I actually wouldn't even give it one star, but one is the lowest rating on here.

It's... okay, generally. One of my friend recommended this place. Before we order, he said we should only order from 3 dishes: roasted lamb, lamb chops, and bbq chicken. My friends all went for lamb chops, while I tried something different and ordered lamb souvlaki. Service was friendly. The food arrived in generous portions and looked appetizing. However, my souvlaki did not arrive hot, it was somewhat half-warm. Also, the meat was very tough. I gave a piece to my friends and they all felt the same way: it was tougher than jerky. Their lamb chops was fine and hot though. Honestly, I would expect better from such restaurant with high ratings and long lineups. Pros: Good portion, good atmosphere, reasonable price, potato and rice. Cons: It's really hit or miss. Today it's a miss for me. Lesson learned: Expect lineups. Next time I go there I will order from those 3 dishes and stick with the basics.

me and my friend went to Stepho's on Davie recently and we were greeted right away which was great! It wasn't very busy since it was a Wednesday evening around 8:30. Our server took awhile to bring my drink order, a ginger ale ( she had forgotten) but other than that it was everything was pretty good. We ordered the calamari dinners for our meals and the portions were very big! We hardly ate the whole dish, we just managed to eat the salad, potatoes and the pita that came with the meal. We decided that itd be best to take the rest home, since we hardly touched our meals. The server asked if we were done and we said yes, I said could we get it packed up? She left with our dishes and came back with the debit machines. We waited awhile and so i asked where our leftovers were...she said she had thrown them out which was very disappointing.Tthe worst part of it though is that we didn't really get to eat much of it and she seemed pretty unapolgetic about it. She just said oh really i didnt realize, and left our table. I wish i hadn't tipped her because we didn't get much from our $16 meal.

Indeed busy. Makes the server crazy. I symphatize with the servers who are constantly overwhelmed with cheap customers. If you are against tipping, don't wait in line for great food and unbeatable portions and don't forget the unbeatable price.

My boyfriend and I moved into the area a few months ago and kept walking by Stepho's and it's line up. With a wait even on a Monday night, we figured it must be amazing. So one night, we buckled down and went. Waited for 30 minutes and we finally sat. The server came by and seemed rushed, so we quickly ordered a bottle of wine then asked for a few more minutes with the menu. 5 minutes later she starts to walk to us, then runs away. Another 10 minutes later she came with the wine and took our menus. We were very hungry so we ordered pita and tzatziki to start. 20 minutes later, we started to get impatient so I took a walk around. A group of 6 that were sat after us had their meals. The server came by after I sat down again and double checked our orders. 7 minutes after that we were served our appetizer of bread and dip. This leads me to believe that our orders were forgotten about. Then our meals came, I had ordered the mousaka, which was pretty good, but my boyfriend had lamb souvlaki and he did not enjoy it at all. The meat was over cooked and it was not enjoyable. The server did ask how our meals were, but by the time we looked up to answer she was gone. Getting the cheque was a challenge and a half. After waiting 15 minutes and asking twice we were about leave. We will not be returning.
