Messier 27 from Calstar 27
A quick and dirty processing of a data set from Calstar 2017. It's been a long time since I finished an astrophoto. I've not been happy with the data that I'd gathered at various locations including the backyard for several outings. Finally, I decided to ...

People pictures from Calstar 2016
More than a year overdue, here are the people pictures from 2016 Calstar. All on film. TriX with Xtol. Developed sometime in the early part of 2017, scanned as a batch - which is why many are overexposed - and then forgotten.

On the trip to the eclipse
Arriving in Klamath Falls, OR, at 8 pm, we saw some smoky haze in the sky from forest fires north west of the area. Checking the internet, I saw a picture from Bend where the sun was dim and the sky was brown. Hoping that this will be controlled quickly a...

Last night, I got the AutoHotKey script to work with the Pentax K10D. Very slick and I can see how I might be able to script things like Maxim. Here is the properly working code for reference. #SingleInstance force

Eclipse Hardware and Software Changes
Last night I needed to test some behavior of the tethering solutions for the cameras to check responsiveness and the duration required for bracketing. I'm glad that I did this effort because it was quickly apparent that the open-source software for the Pen...

Knema - Thanks for the comment. I still use the panel from time to time. When I switched to a dedicated CCD astro camera, I had to ad several more layers of paper to the device to dim the light level. This also acts to diffuse the light even more. Additionally, I've used the panel to provide a surface to view film negatives.

How I plan to shoot the eclipse
I spent some time on the weekend to assemble the cameras into position to check balance and ability to all align to the same point. In order to put the parts together, I needed to drill some holes in a 24 inch long dovetail bar from Losmandy. Surprisingly,...
