Saw this guy on my fence while I was taking my garbage out. He obliged by hanging out while I ran in to grab my camera and a 100mm macro lens and then continued to sit there while I ran back in to get a memory card and foot stool. That's the moon framing him. #macro   #macrophotography   #insects

One of the photos I entered into FOTO DC's "Faces" contest took second place. A very pleasant surprise. I took this at a candlelight vigil in Washington, D.C. after Trayvon Martin was killed. http://www.fotodc.org/blog/2015/6/8/spring-contest-winners

In the summer of 1957, 300 employees of the General Silk Corp. in Lonaconing, Maryland went home on a Friday afternoon and when they returned to work on Monday, the factory was locked up. The building and everything inside it had been sold. I spent Sunday taking pictures inside. Everything is pretty much in the same place as it was when the workers left for the last time, albeit in a decaying, decrepit state. More pictures to come. Thanks to +A.D. Wheeler for organizing the tour!

Up at 5 am to shoot sunrise at Gettysburg with +A.D. Wheeler...in the rain. Left my rain pants at the hotel. Just remembered why I'm not a landscape photographer.

We published our story about Steven Massong today. He went into a VA hospital for a routine procedure and ended up losing most of his right foot and scrotum. And that was just the beginning of his ordeal in the broken VA system. I went to Vegas to take photos of him. The story and photos are here on the +Project On Government Oversight    website: http://www.pogo.org/our-work/articles/2014/system-failure.html
