Ezekiel 37:1-14      Acts 2:1-21     John 15:26-27, 16:4b-15 By now most of you know that I am of the genus and species known as the “Extravertus Maximus.” As was once noted by a member of my kind – who happen to be my General Presbyter when I began seminar...

Perfected Fruit
Psalm 22:25-31     1 John 4:7-21     John 15:1-8 I have been accused, and probably sometimes quite accurately, of being a perfectionist.  Of course, we are actually a culture of perfectionists who are always trying to reach greater heights.  We go so far as...

Is there something that you disagree with, or do you not understand the point? If it is the later, then the point is that life is hard and people can sometimes make it harder for you by their choices. Sometimes that seems (and is) unfair. Faith in God helps us to see that the difficulties we face are not the things that define us. Our choices come from a belief that we are made for good things and that we make the world better for others through those choices. "Perfected Fruit" is a metaphor for good things coming out of difficult things. Perhaps the idea that God creating diamonds out of coal through immense pressure is a better metaphor. Make sense?

Acts 3:12-19     Psalm 4:1-8     1 John 3:1-7     Luke 24:36b-48 I really like the word, “ beloved.”   I think there is certain purity to the word.  Not only that, but there is no denying the intent.  If you are beloved, then you are the object of the affec...

Thanks, Emily! I'm honored that you would take the time to read it. Did you read the scriptures as well? Some of the comments refer indirectly to the scriptures which were read when this sermon was delivered. So, my general point was that God chooses to love us independently of our choice about God. Realizing that the Creator of the entire universe actually cares about you and me as individuals should result in our desire to love God in return. In order to love God fully, we have to realize that there may be patterns of behavior or habits or situations that we need to change. Our love for God gets demonstrated in our relationships (friends, family, even the way our choices effect people we may not even know) in such a way that we represent God to others. Does that make sense?

Life is not fair
This sermon was delivered by Leigh Rachal on July 21. Based on Mark 4:35-41 . Life is not fair…. Ever heard that before? This phrase was told to me by various adults throughout my childhood. “But Jenny’s mom is letting her go to the party. It’s not fair tha...

Daredevil – Yes. I am a fan.
So, I gotta say, I am suitably impressed with the Marvel's recent incarnation of Daredevil on Netflix . As a child, I collected only two comics – the Uncanny X-Men, and Daredevil. While I was excited about the film version, I just couldn't see Matt Damon as...

Defining Moments
Isaiah 25:6-9     1 Corinthians 15:1-11     Luke 24:13-49 Each of us, in our lives, experience what you might call defining moments.  Some of these moments are profound, and some may be quite profane.  Some of them are so mundane that we only catch them in ...

Have fun!
Introduction
I'm a Christian, a husband, a dad, and a Pastor. I think deeply. I love fully. I seek to have fun whatever I may be doing.

Though I am originally from Kennesaw, GA, I've wandered through Richmond and Chester VA and stopped for a spell in Dalton, GA and also Savannah, GA before settling in Lafayette, LA. I am married to an amazing woman who is better than I deserve and we have two kids that teach me about the important stuff in life.

We love the Ballet Studio! The instruction is of exceptional quality. Great care is taken to develop multi faceted dancers with ballet as the core. The enviornment is beautiful, clean, and safe, and the community of families is welcoming. This is not the place to come and impress others. It is a place to learn, to grow, and to reach your potential. If none of this were true, I'd still be won over by one thing. When I asked my daughter out of the blue to name someone she admires after school the other day she said, "Mrs. Beverly." Nuff said.
