Clients are happy to buy homes with updated shingles, but are often even happier that they had them inspected before the purchase.

One of the last things I do during a home inspection is check the attic.  It's often a bit of a wild card.  Remember to pop that attic hatch and have a look in your attic seasonally. And never.... Never... vent your bathroom directly into your attic. :)

Deteriorated chimneys, lead to deteriorated attics and deteriorated interior finishes.  Maple Trust Inspections reports on conditions like this all the time, and we can't wait for the warmer weather to get here.  Cold, windy, snow covered roof tops will soon be behind us once again :)

Home Inspections, Electrical Defects and You.  A Home Inspectors  Perspective.  What's Yours?

Home sales are picking up in Niagara.  Home Inspections are coming in fast.  Nice weather is just around the corner.  It's time to work on that Curb Appeal!  But when you do, don't forget to pay attention to the grade of your property.  Lots of home inspections reveal misguided gardener's efforts.  Make it pretty, but do it right.

How does snow, rain or even the time of day affect your home inspection?

In this picture, snow was covering the roof.  We noticed that not only was it hiding the condition of the shingles, but the snow was actually hiding tarps.  This roof was in need of major repairs or replacement and a just a little more snow could have fully concealed it.

Brings new meaning to the expression "In the Dog House!'
My dog would be so envious if he knew there were homes with dog caves in them!

Syndication has lead to problems here in Canada too.  Home Buyers are advised to verify listing details as early as possible, and of course, to have a home inspection as well.
I know this is a subject of great debate, interestingly I am closing a sale on March 19th and my buyer client already has her letters ready instructing these companies not to print a darn thing about her transaction! And she means it.

I did not know this movement existed until i read an article by Jim Abbott.
