Two years ago, Ames Public Library decided to break the traditional library mold. As part of the Library Renewal Project, the library added innovative AV technology to expand interaction opportunities and promote a greater sense of community.

Home to thousands of STEM students attending Iowa State University, the Ames Public Library is opening high-tech interaction opportunities for the entire community. Mechdyne partnered with the library to provide digital signage and technology to facilitate collaboration and content sharing.

Australian and Lao researchers recently uncovered an ancient burial ground at the Plain of Jars in central Laos.  Funded by the +Australian Research Council, researchers worked to uncover the mysteries behind the large carved stone jars, some measuring as high as three meters tall. The most recent discovery unearthed an ancient burial ground, revealing how the jars were utilized for their rituals.

To visualize the research findings--including excavation data, remote sensing data, and drone imagery--the team is using the Mechdyne CAVE2 at +Monash University. Through virtual fieldwork in depth analysis and interpretation, researchers hope to assist the Lao government to have the jar sites nominated for UNESCO World Heritage status.
