1. Use less energy by integrating more RES and energy efficiency. First and foremost in the heating sector. This will reduce energy demand and is in line with #2
2. Local energy - indeed. heating soluations are local, be this decentral or grid based solutions, but they should only use fossils if it is impossible to replace. The potential of RES heating solutions is there, but it remains under-exploited
3. If we are successful in #1 and #2, the need for importing and transporting is much lower than today. It will require 54 million additional HP by 2030 to make us independant on Russion gas imports. http://www.ehpa.org/fileadmin/red/01._About_EHPA/News/Other_doc_and_img/20141015_Winter_is_coming_Final_WITH_ACTUAL_TARGETS.pdf
4. If we are successful in #1 and #2, there is no need to find new fossil fuel sources, because we have reduced their demand so much, that it will take stress out of these markets.
(Marketing block: heat pumps are a perfect solutions to cover all these requirements - check back at www.ehpa.org for more information)
