Congrats to Wool E. Bull of the +Durham Bulls for winning +Baseball America's "Best Mascot".

I'd like to thank the +Kansas City Royals and +Oakland Athletics for wearing proper home whites and road grays. Now we just need them all wearing stirrups (or at least high socks) to complete the look of a real ballgame.

Marc Topkin of the +Tampa Bay Times is reporting that Ryan Hanigan has been placed on the DL again (oblique strain).  There's no word yet on who'll be called up to replace him on the active roster, but I'd think that Ali Solis is likely to be it (given that, besides Hanigan and Molina, he's the only other catcher currently on the 40-man roster),

FYI: All +Tampa Bay Rays pitchers in MLB All-Star Game history: 10 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 R, 33 BF.

As of right now, there are 317 individual players listed on the rosters of the +Tampa Bay Rays and their minor league affiliates.

169 pitchers (13 on the active MLB roster)
69 infielders (5)
47 outfielders (5)
32 catchers (2)

Annoyance of the day: Multiple otherwise-authoritative-or-reliable sources showing different dates for the same event.

For example: Rays 2014 16th-round draft selection Greg Maisto has been signed and is already playing for the Princeton Rays. However, the Tampa Bay Times lists his signing date at June 11. MLB.com says it's June 16. Baseball America says June 10. Which one is actually correct? We'll have to find out.

If my calculations are correct (and I'm sure they're pretty close), the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays have made a total of 1,018 draft selections in the June draft going back to their first in 1996.

455 selections of players from high school
358 from 4-year colleges/universities
197 from junior/community colleges
8 of players not affiliated with a school (e.g., Joey Gathright)

Historically, this year's draft is a little bit of an anomaly for Tampa Bay since they took so many college players (31), and so few from high school (7) and junior colleges (3).

Ever catch yourself wondering what was happening in +Tampa Bay Rays baseball history on a given day?  We do, too!

That's why we're trying to build a repository of everything that's happened with the Rays. Everything. Ever.

Of course, it's hard to do this alone. We'd love any help you'd care to offer.
