Did they starve the duck to death? I ordered a pricy duck lunch and was served some skin, a few bones and about 20 grams of meat. I couldn't believe it. They gave me a little bit more when I pointed this out. That was the only positive thing about the meal. Avoid this place, it's outlived itself. If you want to see the pretty garden interior go in and order a fruit juice. Forget about the food.

We had Hummus as an appetizer and for the main the famous Bebek Bengil. However, we think the duck we recieved died because of starvation as there was already only bones and skin... This is however a westerly man's opinion and it may be a delicious meal (?) in Indonesia - but not for us. The Hummus and the carrot cake however were more than just okay. The service, well they are nice, but seldom around... You need to be ready to order when someone drops by or wait another 30 minutes. Summary: not recommended - to little value for the money.

It is a bit of a tourist trap but definitely should be visited at least once when in Ubud. Try to call ahead to get better table although the restaurant is huge. Obvious recommendation one of the dishes with duck:)

For the price.... you really can get much better food. Ambience is quite exclusive. Service was prompt. Ducks basically deep fried

Overpriced. Ordered the half duck. Barely any meat can get better duck as well. this is just a tourist trap. Avoid

Years ago I was a regular at Bebek Bengil, then food quality and service dropped and now I just go there for a quick duck meal and a draft beer, no more for my birthday party or other events. Bebek Bengil was an institution.

My wife and I came here to try the famous original crispy duck on a hot Friday evening. We started the meal with an appetizer, being the spicy guacamole and chips. The chips are more of a rice cracker type, but tasted very good with the guacamole. It really isn't that spicy but the very small amount of bite enhanced the taste overall. Following that came our main course, my wife received her crispy duck with fried potatoes on the side. I chose to have rice with mine instead of potatoes, but mine also came with an excellent green bean salad with some coconut flavoured dressing. I started with eating the duck, don't waste time using a fork. But you really do need to dig around to find the meat on it. You end up eating a lot of skin and probably other organs you're unaware of. I decided to eat the lung to show off to my wife. She wasn't impressed. There is actually only a very small amount of brown meat on it, still a lot of duck fat. The meat was definitely enhanced by the condiments that they provide, three different ones. Mild, medium and the hot one was really good. The medium one though was my favourite tasting, the red one. Without the sauce the meat is not much different from chicken. Needless to say, I finished mine, and my wife's. She enjoyed it too but wasn't as hungry as I was. The price for the meal including a can of sprite, a coke, and an ice tea came to 360.000IDR. This was with a 7% service charge and 10% tax. Based on some of the other meals we ate in Ubud, like at Bali Buddha, I think this meal was more worth around $25. I would have left a tip, probably more than 7% service charge, but if any restaurant is going to put it on the bill for me in the first place, I won't. Also they do take visa, and had 6 different machines to do it with, but none of them worked at the time ( we tried all 6), so I had to go grab some extra cash up the street, not a huge deal. Overall, we had a good experience here. There is lot less meat on the duck than you may expect, but the ambience and the taste of the food made it a good dinner out.
