The Classical Mandolin Society of America is pleased to host Victor Kioulaphides as the composer-in-residence for the 2017 convention October 25-29 in Milwaukee.

At the Saturday evening concert, the convention’s 150+ member En Masse Orchestra will perform music composed by Victor. Convention attendees get to know the composer, and CMSA supports composition of music for mandolin orchestras.

Victor was born in Athens, Greece and in 1979 moved to New York, where he studied double bass and composition at The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music. He is currently a faculty member at the Lucy Moses School at the Kaufman Music Center and was formerly a faculty member at the Brooklyn Conservatory. Victor’s compositions are widely published and have been performed around the world.

Visit our CMSA convention page for more information about the 2017 CMSA convention.

The Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra is hosting this year’s Classical Mandolin Society of America’s convention, October 25-29, at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.

The 117-year-old MMO, the oldest fretted-instrument music organization in the United States, is directed by the talented and dynamic classical guitarist Rene Izquierdo and plays the best in traditional American mandolin orchestra music.

Come for the great music and camaraderie, of course—while you are there, enjoy the fall colors, beer, brats, and the beautiful downtown location. Visit our CMSA convention page ( for more information.

Mark your calendars—October 25-29—for the 2017 CMSA convention, hosted by the Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra. CMSA is excited to present guest artists Julien Martineau and Alon Sariel, with composer-in-residence Victor Kioulaphides and conductor Jim Bates.

Now is the time to register for the 2016 convention! Modern Mandolin Quartet! Dr. Jim Bates conducting the En Masse, composer-in-residence Neil Gladd, and more!

Check out the link to register, and also, if you've not yet secured your hotel room at the Valley Forge Radisson, do so now. Discounted rooms in the CMSA block are limited and we do believe the hotel will sell out entirely.
