$79 million awarded to 17 Georgia communities for environmental infrastructure projects. Conservation loans were awarded to Athens-Clarke County, city of Blue Ridge, city of Hahira, city of Kingsland, city of Lyons, city of Quitman, and city of Roswell. Loans for economic development projects were awarded to Bryan County and Whitfield County.

With its largest wastewater treatment plant underwater, the city of Valdosta experienced widespread water quality problems in the aftermath of a disastrous flood. The city received $36.8 million in low-interest financing from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority to help resolve its wastewater system and treatment issues.

The City of Decatur Public Facilities Authority was awarded an $11.5 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan to finance the acquisition of 22.08 acres of conservation land as part of the United Methodist Children’s Home land purchase of 77 total acres.
