Back in 2010, the US Copyright Office added a set of anti-circumvention exemptions to the DMCA, effectively making it legal for smartphone users

I don't believe that web sites need to be perfect on mobile browsers (especially if it's a personal site) - but they should be at least usable.

Unlike this.

This very well may be one of the best things ever. If it continues to work as well as it has in my testing so far, I'm going to use this a lot

This is a really good idea, and looks to be a good deal - personally I have a VPN on my pfSense box, so if I'm on unencrypted wireless I just VPN home and go out that way. But everybody should use some secure solution on public WiFi.
iOS: Previously mentioned VPN service Hotspot Shield can already encrypt your browsing and keep you safe when using public Wi-Fi on your computer, but this morning the service announced a new mobile app for private and secure internet use wherever you use your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Hotspot Shield for iPhone runs in the background at all times when the app is running, encrypting everything from SMS messages to emails and Twitter updates. Th...

This could be interesting... I'm sure once all the restrictions and details are out it won't seem such a great deal - but the industry needs a little shake-up, and these just might be the right people to provide it.
Republic Wireless, a division of Bandwidth.com, is going to launch a super-cheap mobile voice and SMS service on Nov. 8. The service uses a mix of VoIP and cellular technologies. The service requires ...

While testing ccsrch I noticed a number that looked familiar – my debit card number. Now, being just a little paranoid, I don't leave such information on my system unencrypted – so seeing it was a...

If you haven't heard, the ethically questionable web host known as GoDaddy is supporting SOPA. In addition to their terrible customer service and elephant-killing CEO, GoDaddy is backing the bill tha...

Knowing GoDaddy, and the way they operate - I'm guessing they've pulled "official" support and will just sit back and watch. Supporting it passively by not taking any action isn't that much better than supporting it openly. They've still done a lot to help the bill - unless they start actively opposing it and taking real action to keep it from becoming law, then I'd say nothing has really changed. At least that's my opinion.

Ok, this is just awesome.

I logged into the Dropbox website and saw this:

"You have 1 iPad, 15 Windows computers, 1 Mac, 1 iPhone and 1 Android phone linked to Dropbox."

That might be a bit excessive...

Three hours later, the iPhone surgery is finally completed; the home button has been replaced. Annoyingly enough - it turns out the home button is the hardest part to get to, requires a complete tear-down of the phone.

I tore it down and my lovely wife +Julia Caudill put it back together (both times) - I think she got harder part of the deal...
