Good read when hearing about "Gartner's" "bi-modal strategy"...
I've recently come across a concept known as Bimodal IT. I couldn't stop howling with laughter. It's basically 2004 dressed up as 2014 and it is guaranteed to get you into a mess. So we better go through it. I'm going to s...

This helps to articulate where some free software projects go awry. Most hackers are the pioneers--they scratch their itch, but they don't want to be bothered with second wave tasks.

On the other end, sometimes mature projects are subverted by the inclusion of "pioneer" code because it's sexy and hot and not boring.

I think Linux succeeded so well because Linus was able to manage the transition between the modes so that the Linux kernel was able to evolve into a mature product.

Great commentary from a Globe and Mail caption writer about the rich attending parties while the other 99% are Occupying Wall St #occupywallst

It's really difficult to uncircle people after you've circled them. At least, there doesn't appear to be an easy way to do it from the "Circles" page, which seems to me to be the obvious place to do it.

Anyone?

Just drag them out! The animations are great, try deleting a circle as well.

Meanwhile, in Australia, the HP website "Handheld PCs" section is still advertising "Free iPAQ software"...

As for your "it's not Apple" comment, pftfft!! I don't automatically love everything that Apple does, nor do I think they should have a go at doing everything either!

For example, their "Ping" SN within iTunes is a waste of space, they should focus on syncing stuff, iOS etc, not build Yet Another Social Network.

I think Google has the clout to take a good chunk of FB's market, and I hope they do. At least, I hope all the nice people come over to G+, and all the idiots stay on FB :-)

Hmm, this looks like just as big a time-waster as FB.

I prefer Twitter. But I'm glad there's an alternative to FB now.

Great craft beer and Whisky/ey selection, always interesting menu, and some great special event foods (spit roasted pig)

Sadly, this USED to be an excellent cafe. Now that the owners have changed and all the previous staff have gone, it's nothing more than a run-of-the-mill lunch bar that serves coffee.

Stunning coffee, nitro cold brew is incredible. Food looked excellent though sadly I was too full to try any when I visited.

Excellent banh mi, great range from traditional flavours to some more experimental ones, and they have good Vietnamese pourover coffee with condensed milk for the full experience.

Coffee excellent, staff friendly-aloof in a proper cafe style (especially given how busy they are, no time for idle chat). Food looks good though I've not tried any yet. Only taking a star off unfortunately for the location, which is cramped and a bit noisy.

Great breakfasts and lunches. Salads are excellent. We were here 7 years ago, it was great then and it still is!
