Some people have fathers. Some have father figures. Amazing men who weren't in the room when we were born, but who help us discover who we're meant to become. They're like the earth. A strong foundation under our feet, rich in character, with depth of heart, strong enough to support mountains and soft enough to nurture seeds. A long time ago I put down my roots in +RAM Rich
's studio and found the ground I needed so that one day I could start to bloom, and reach high enough to try and touch my dreams.
Today, on #fathersday
, remember the guys who've touched your lives. Tell us in the comments, were there teachers and guides, mentors and captains, heroes and friends who've fit outside of the father-cookie-cutter mold but who took on that so-important role in your heart?
I've been so blessed to grow into a life where I feel like I have an army of guardian angels of brothers and uncles and champions and advisors and gurus and confidants and coaches, so many broad shoulders to stand on... But Ram's the man who fits that role and so much more, my touchstone, my best friend, my earth.
Ram, thank you for not only being my hero, but teaching me how to be my own heroine. Thank you for every bass line, every long drive, every club gig dive, for being old enough to get me into my own shows, for protecting me, for hearing my smile in my first songs, for seeing something in me that I didn't see in myself. I'm so proud to be your girl and always sing by your side.XO, DariaPs. Ya'll do yourself a favor and go listen to Ram's film scores and other amazing non-daria music at www.ramusic.squarespace.com too! You can also read all about his amazing accomplishments, seriously, he's slumming it doing little tunes with me, he writes symphonies in his sleep ;)
