I was looking for a secure and clean place to locate a work apartment. This area was very nice, as were most of the people I ran into on a daily basis. These items are just the basics I look for when renting due to work assignments. This particular apartment is located just a minute away from a very nice grocery store and General Dollar store all within the square without having to enter the main street. There is a really nice dry cleaners (Lake Side) minutes away towards Crown Point as well. This apartment complex has a $600 deposit - where $150 will be taken out once you move out for redecorating fee. Apartment rates vary, but are equal to those found in Northern Virginia. If you decide to break rent, that will $2,500 extra expense. There is nothing really outstanding about this facility. The outdoor pool is heated, they have a nice gym, and the personnel working the residential house are very professional. These items are expected for the rent required. This is a business, even though they say community. If you use the online rent pay, understand that you need to get a confirmation number. If you don't, go back until you do. There is a $25 fee for late rent and no one in the community will send you a nice note, there will be a letter informing you that a lawyer will be notified at an additional expense if rent is not paid and eviction will take place. There's no "friendly" note as one would expect in a community. If you chose a first floor apartment, there will be noise from your up stairs neighbor (walking, TV, children running). If you have a service call, this property does handle those request seriously and the item will be fixed. Caution, you will need to buy and have on hand several 9v batteries in case the fire alarms go off due to a dead battery. Weekend calls cost to have them serviced - or after hours. It can be done personally without hassle. This was a very well keep apartment complex and the property is a very well run business. When renting, there will be a gift bag waiting for you with treats a few other items you may need when moving in. The area is well lit throughout the nite. The basic cable is part of your rent ($30) and comes with the equipment from Comcast for the first year. There are gas stoves and washer dryer inside the apartment. Gas/Electric bill ran on average $80 a month. You can purchase an Internet plan as well if you don't like the basic setup. This area was very convenient to commute into Chicago - The Loop. I left @ 4:30a in the morning for a 50 minute commute. On average, returning and leaving the city at 3:00p was usually 1 hr 20 minutes. I never met anyone in the apartment complex that was rude or impolite. These are professional people working and commuting into/out of Chicago-land. The area is very conservative and well maintained. The mall area can be accessed through a back street off of 93rd Ave and is minutes away. If you need your vehicle fixed professionally, Midwest Auto Care is the place to go.

I recently moved into Prairie Point and I love everything about it! In my search I have come to learn that NW Indiana does not have much to offer since I am from Chicago I am use to see spacious new apartments. I was running short on time and decided to extend my search to Crown Point/Merrillville area. At first I was skeptical because the 2BR/2BA is expensive. But after I took the first look of the possible unit, I knew that Prairie Point was the place for me and my family. As soon as I walked in the unit it felt so "homey" not to mention the HUGE kitchen that I love. I have 25 cabinet to utilize! The unit over all is the best that I have come across in my search. I have not been in the unit a whole month but I know that I will be here for awhile. I would definitely recommend Prairie Point to everyone! You pay for what you get and the money is well spent!
