It’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, and we’re celebrating our ladies! At SpaceX, nearly 100 women engineers are working to change the future of human spaceflight.

Just posted to Trader Joe's Store Request form: Feel free to post something similar

http://www.traderjoes.com/about/location-requests-form.asp

"You really should open a location in the "Suburban Plaza" complex in Decatur Georgia. We are a middle class neighborhood with the perfect mix of income and purchasing habits to fit a Trader Joe's. We have a classic shopping center with an empty space where you would fit right it. It is far enough away from your far too busy midtown Atlanta location that there should not be any draw away from that location, in fact it might be just the right distance to help improve local buzz.

Please come take a look at Suburban Plaza. Let us buy your stuff!"

GMO is a marketing term. Is a natural hybrid a GMO?  What about a hybrid that could never happen without human intervention, through moving plants from place to place, or storing pollen for days weeks or months?  What if the  two plants naturally use different pollenaters and the insect that collects the pollen could not naturally pollenate the matching female flower?

Leaving hybridization behind, what about simple vegetative replication?  Plants are amazingly easy to clone.  Nearly every banana that we eat is from a clone plant that does not produce viable offspring through seeds. Add in grafting and you can also include nearly every tree crop we eat.

None of the plants produced by these means have a complete genome that could be found in ANY plant reproduced without human intervention.  So any or all of these are "GMO"s.  Some of which have been part of our foodstream for centuries.

By singling out this term "GMO" for denigration we allow that term to be redefined into meaninglessness.

Labeling something as "GMO" is inadequete.  I am far more interested in  where and when the fruit or vegetable was picked. Than it appearing in some rather arbitrary category, like GMO or Natural, or Organic, or Less Fat, or No Sugar.

If you are at all able bodied, may I make a suggestion?  Find a 5k or 10k or longer race this weekend. Run, Walk, Or Crawl. Write "Boston" on your shirt, or sleeve, or skin. Google "5K April 20", there are dozens of races.

Because Someone Is Wrong On The Internet.  here:  http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2013/02/the-future-of-airline-seating-lets-hope-so/

The human figures shown in this image are only 4' 8" tall, so I added the grey shadow person on the far left.  He is a six footer.

Introduction
This I believe:  That the growth of human knowledge and awareness is Good.  Every discovery, creation, work of art and honest exchange of ideas is a Blessing.  Every lie, con, cheat, suppression and destruction of knowledge is Sin.

From the discovery of the Higgs boson, down to a dirty limerick are all acts that make the human noosphere larger, richer, and just better. Anything that destroys or distorts any portion of the sum of all human knowledge is tearing down the work of ages. That includes the burning of the Library of Alexandria, deceptive beer advertising, and climate change denial.

Science is one of our best tools for growing our noosphere.  Properly applied science separates the wheat from the chaff, concentrating and preserving knowledge.

Literature may be an even stronger tool.  It allows communication, not just to one person or a small group, but to people remote in space and time.

Art is most human of the tools we have.  Art is what turns raw data into beauty, and beauty is what truly attracts us.  Beauty gives us something to Love, not just something to admire.  Beauty lasts the ages and only Art can give us that.

Technology gives us the tools we need to build everything else.  Technology lets more of us do more a richer things.  Without technology we are no more than talking animals.

Mathematics is the most powerful, most basic, and most essential technology that we have.  It underlays everything else, from the plane angles of a flint hand axe to the Mars Science laboratory that is bringing us knowledge from another world.  Mathematics gives us the golden mean, it gives our poetry meter, it lets our statues stand tall and broad.

This I Believe.
