Medical Mixtures & Magical Potions: A Rainy Day Playdate. We used vinegar, baking soda, essential oils, coffee beans, old spice jars, medicine droppers, a muffin tin, a funnel, and spoons to explore smells and conduct simple science experiments. Lasted for an hour! This activity could not have been better for cooperation, observations and problem solving. Plus they filled up some new pages for the words funnel, reaction, mixture and experiment. Thanks +TinkerLab for the inspiration!

Picture Books  -

Wordless storybooks are better than vocabulary books for the same reason real play is better than flash cards! Language was created to COMMUNICATE IDEAS and FACILITATE INTERACTION. So put away those flashcards and read a book with a great storyline. Kids will have more fun and learn more too!

I give books all the time as part of a bday present, but they usually aren't paired with the other gift.

Tickled with these fairy Potato Head add-ons! I love Mr. Potato Head for all of the great play and learning it encourages. Now it has a sprinkle of whimsy too! #kbn #kbnmoms

Hi everyone! I'm just getting back to blogging after having my second child. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing in this group! For today I wanted to share an easy way to get little ones to talk more...WAIT! :) This post shares 10 easy ways to practice just that. A good reminder for parents (and ourselves).
