i have only been here TWiCE, but that's all it took for me to LOVE this place!! i really don't think you'll find a BETTER priced hotel that is practically ON the beach!! OH, and the restaurant right NEXT to the hotel, "World Famous Restaurant" is ONE of THEE BEST, if not THE BEST, place to eat at! i recommend the lobster tacos, the steak dinner, the drinks, everything! i also, highly recommend staying at "The Surfer Beach Hotel" any day of the year :) :) :) !!!!

Beware of the parking scam that this hotel has going with a tow company. I paid the extra $ to park in their lot, but my car was towed and it cost me almost $300 plus a taxi ride to retrieve it. It was very evident by the scratches on the window frame that a slim jim was used to get into the car to remove the parking tag. When I contacted the San Diego police, I was told that this scam happens frequently. DO NOT STAY at this hotel.

Best Pacific Beach hotel for the price, and the restaurant is amazing! We spent our honeymoon in an ocean view suite and plan on spending many an anniversary there...only disappointment was getting food delivered by restaurants on the delivery menu...need to update and not let their service tarnish the hotel experience.

Great location, right on the water. Get a room overlooking the sunset for a perfect evening on the balcony. Had some check in problems but its a small establishment so processes may not be standardized but i'll gladly give that up for a more personal touch. You can pay $15 for parking or you can drive around the blocks a few times and find a spot. People tend to come and go quickly around here so for us it was not a challenge.

We booked a block of rooms for our wedding and they not only screwed up over half the reservations, but then they mistakenly informed us they would be charging us for twice the rooms we had booked, causing massive anxiety for us a day before the wedding. They ultimately didn't overcharge, but they did offer to comp us over the phone, an offer they did not make good on. The service was horrible and even offensive- when we checked in (night of the wedding), Tim at the front desk was on the phone with an angry customer, and hung up said to us loudly about the customer: "I wish I was back in Afghanistan where we had an excuse to kill people like that". Overall I've never had a worse hotel experience and strongly suggest you stay away. Best Western across the street is a much better option, which is unfortunate, because we prefer to support independent businesses.

Your person at the front desk, Laura, really helped us out & made our stay very enjoyable. We have been coming to the Surfer for the last 20-30 yr.s & have always made our reservations through the hotel. This time we made them thru Expedia & ended up with a room by the pool. I have ONLY ever wanted a higher floor room with an ocean view. We went & spoke with Laura. It basically was a sold out weekend but she said she'd see what she could do. She ended up giving us a room on the 3rd floor & she was able to give it to us for both nights we were there. She also did NOT charge us the extra for the Ocean View. What a great employee-----she made sure we had a wonderful weekend!!! Thanks a Lot!!
