We love visiting Denver Botanic Gardens. It always makes for a beautiful and peaceful afternoon. This summer, they’re host to the outdoor art exhibition “Deborah Butterfield: The Nature of Horses.” (The exhibit runs through October 18.) We thoroughly enjoyed it. The Gardens is the perfect backdrop for Butterfield’s amazing “wooden horses.” You can experience it, [...]

“The strongest defense is therefore to become invisible, or at least visually camouflaged. Even in this case, however, mosquitoes could still locate you by tracking the heat signature of your body . . . The independent and iterative nature of the sensory-motor reflexes renders mosquitoes’ host seeking strategy annoyingly robust.”

No matter how hard we try to protect our skin from mosquitoes, we just can't win. Visual, olfactory, and thermal cues let them home in to grab a meal.

So, basically stop breathing and they won't find you.  Unless, they're within 1 meter and sense your body heat.

NASA’s new Deep Space Climate Observatory Satellite (DSCOVR) has captured its first photo (shown above) of our planet from one million miles away. By comparison, the similar and iconic Blue Marble photo captured by the crew of the Apollo 17 was just 28,000 miles away when that picture was snapped in 1972.

I read The Cloudspotter's Guide when it was first published, an interesting read, it looks like a business has grown out of its success! The Wavespotter's Guide is also an excellent book.

Contemporary Digital Photographer
Introduction
Avid Photography enthusiast that has been shooting film or digital for over thirty years.

Primarily an Outdoor Photographer I seek to find the beauty in urban, rural, and natural settings, with an eye for the light composition, and proper exposure to portray the final image as pre-visualized at the scene.

As I continue to develop a personalized style, I find that my vision is often expressed in the textures, lighting, and color in the scene in a way that is less representational portrayal, then it is of an abstract or emotional portrayal.
