Stormy on Saturn. Take yer wellies if you're heading out there.

Saturn Hurricane
Image Credit: Cassini Imaging Team, SSI, JPL, +European Space Agency, ESA, +NASA
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130502.html

Acquiring its first sunlit views of far northern Saturn late last year, the Cassini spacecraft's narrow-angle camera recorded this stunning image of the vortex at the ringed planet's north pole. The false color, near-infrared image results in red hues for low clouds and green for high ones, causing the north-polar hurricane to take on the appearance of a rose. Enormous by terrestrial hurricane standards, this storm's eye is about 2,000 kilometers wide, with clouds at the outer edge traveling at over 500 kilometers per hour. The north pole Saturn hurricane swirls inside the large, six-sided weather pattern known as the hexagon. Of course, in 2006 Cassini also imaged the hurricane at Saturn's south pole.

#livejump  #stratos For those of us in the UK, MDT is 6 hours behind, so launch should be about 18:30 GMT.  I reckon jump should be roughly 21:00 GMT.

Bye bye Synergy old pal.  AAH Meditel made a great database that stood the test of time (from System 5), Torex put a great user interface on it (System 6000 + Premier = Synergy), then iSoft screwed up the business.

It's a part-linux (Joli OS), part-cloud (Jolidrive) system that has been designed to tie together all your online services, particularly storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive and SkyDrive.  Joli OS performs very well even on my slow old netbook.  The UI is nice and clean, and designed to make the best use of any screen size, even down to the netbook's 1024x600.
You can use Jolidrive on the web from any device without needing Joli OS.  A Joli OS device has the same UI as JoliDrive, but with additional 'apps' (web apps in a local-style wrapper) and access to local file storage, which looks exactly like the cloud storage services.

Best £0.69 I ever spent. Apart from the fact it took over my life, but I'm getting through that. I'll kick the habit as soon as I've got 3 stars on every level...

Europe’s Herschel space observatory has discovered enough water vapour to fill Earth’s oceans more than 2000 times over, in a gas and dust cloud that is on the verge of collapsing into a new Sun-like ...

Hot tip for the future of all live performance: Auto-synced mashups of the audience's video footage. This is going to be huge for music gigs!
Dropping some time-synced tweets into the mix would be cool too... That part's my idea. You heard it here first. Ka-ching ;-)

I used to do training and installation of e-referrals and lab results, mostly in GPASS practices.  It was a hideous monstrosity and proven clinically unsafe!  Yet it was used by 90% of GPs in Scotland because it was free.  But not 'free' as in Open Source goodness.  I mean 'free' as in nobody sane would pay money for such a piece of crap.
