EAST SUSSEX, UK, August 4th 2017 –New Product Release:
The Photek iCMOS 160 represents the latest advance in high speed intensified imaging. Its readout of 160 frames per second at 2.2 Megapixels, coupled with optional ultra-fast 3 ns gating, enables both faster and higher sensitivity measurements in a wide range of time resolved applications, including plasma physics, fluorescence lifetime imaging and combustion diagnostics.
Frame rates in excess of 1000 fps are possible at reduced frame size. The CMOS sensor is fiber optically coupled to the image intensifier providing optimum image quality and light transmission.
Bespoke versions of the iCMOS 160 can be delivered with any of the wide range of Photek’s image intensifiers, including intensifiers with market-leading UV sensitivity and sizes up to 40 mm in diameter.
A plug-n-play USB 3.0 interface, fully integrated gate unit and intuitive Image32 software ensures easy set-up and operation.
In addition to the announcement of the iCMOS 160, Photek is also pleased to announce that their HRPCS and IPD advanced photon counting cameras have been updated to provide the ultimate performance for ultra-low light applications requiring true photon counting.

Our dynamic duo, Panos and Tom, are currently over in Tours, France, for the NDIP17 International Conference on New Developments in Photodetection.
Photek have a booth as part of the Industrial Exhibition and Tom is also presenting a poster on our Square Multianode MCP Detector on Wednesday afternoon.

James, our R&D Manager, is out in Beijing this week presenting at the TIPP’17 conference- The International Conference on Technology and Instrumentation in Particle Physics.
James’s talk is on “The TORCH PMT, a close packing, long life MCP-PMT for Cherenkov applications with a novel high granularity multi-anode.”

Photek are currently in a three year development program to produce a novel square PMT for the proposed TORCH detector which is being developed within an ERC project, with potential application in a future upgrade of the LHCb experiment around 2023. The PMT will be MCP based for the inherent timing accuracy that this brings, and has three main novel features that need to be developed:
Long lifetime, it should be able to produce 5 C / cm2 of accumulated anode charge without noticeable degradation in sensitivity. http://ow.ly/lUu430c0ymz Multi-anode out http://ow.ly/5pdo30c0ysX put with an effective spatial resolution of 128 × 8 pixels within a 53 mm x 53 mm working area.
Close packing on 2 opposing sides with an active width fill factor target of 88% in one direction.
We will present further evidence of the significant beneficial effect that an ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) coating on the MCPs has on the life time of an MCP-PMT.
We have developed a novel anode design that combines the image charge technique with a patterned anode, and uses a charge sharing algorithm that produces an inter-pad position resolution beyond the granularity of the pads themselves: 0.225 mm FWHM (sigma ~ 0.1 mm) derived from pads on a 0.83 mm pitch. We will also show initial results using the multi-channel NINO ASIC and the first multi-anode tube prototypes.

It's celebration and assessment day for the EES (Engineering Education Scheme). Photek have been supporting a project with Burgess Hill School for Girls for the last 6 months and this is their stand- well done to all involved!
