Food is good. Staid old school French. Predictable and wonderful in it's way. It's a part of our New Year's Evening. But the sweet small bar at night now plays crazy loud bad bands better suited for spaces and patrons in the next block. Really bad idea. People left in droves, except for the 10 old hard core band groupees. Fortunately the waitresses keep ear plugs handy.

The food is good. The decor is outdated.

ya know, if there ever was a throwback to the "good old days" this is the place. ask for bernard the waiter...been there at least 150 years! the soupds are great, the foos is fresh, the decor is a throwback and the martinis are great. the crowd is a mox of young actors and retiress, youn latinos and middle age westsiders. a great fun expreience.

I good place to have a drink during happy hour if you are within walking distance. The bar is always playing the baseball game, also a good place when you want to talk to some old Angelinos. The food is heavy and if you were to judge it by the amount of guests it's always steady, lots of old school lawyers or city employees.

We ate at Taix before heading down the road to the Opera, and it was a fun experience. It was like taking a step back in time, and the décor was great. The service was OK, and the prices were good. The food, however, was Excellent! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal, which consisted of the Duck a l'orange, the "Famous" chicken, and the lamb chops. All were superb. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, but don't expect snappy service (you get what you pay for)... it was fun nonetheless.
