Taper Time: I've never trained as hard as in the past four months. A lot has gone right, and even the stuff that went wrong, like a calf pull two weeks ago that's disappeared, hasn't set me back. I'm 100%. VDOT is 51. This morning's slow distance run makes it 45 miles in three days, with negative splits, but there's no fatigue, no pain. I could go again tomorrow. Never felt like this. Ever. There's plenty of time and energy for a perfect taper before Providence. Let's do this.

This happened to me Tuesday morning too. I woke up and enjoyed a clear mind for a number of seconds before I remembered. I hate that feeling.

Let's be honest here: I really just wanted to write about my daughter's first ballgame, but a guy on the train was reading on of Clayton Christensen's books, and it jogged some interesting thoughts on technological disruption.

In online media, whether it is for communications or social sharing, disruption is driving incredible changes in the way we do things. It’s already hard to imagine how we got by without Facebook, and five years from now we’ll wonder how we survived without something some software developer is creating right now.

Innovation has made it possible to disrupt one industry after another, including social media and content.

Is that why I just got whacked with a dead cat?

Are you finding you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a "thought leader" these days? +Gini Dietrich has some thoughts of her own to contribute.

'thought leader' has been added to my running list of terms that have lost the value of their meaning through overuse in flat contexts. You can find it filed next to, 'innovation' 'engagement' 'change management' and 'rock star.' Now, carry on.

The One Fund Boston, intended to raise money to help those families most affected by the bombing at the finish line of Monday’s Boston Marathon, was announced Tuesday by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.

In my 2012 Boston shirt after a 7.5 mile treadmill run. I felt good on the sub-marathon pace intervals and great on the base pace, so I think the calf is doing fine. I've got a long slow distance 20-miler planned for Friday through Lexington & Concord. Thinking of Boston through it all.
