Got my preview access to Google Classroom last night. Took it for a spin and am very impressed. Google has created a clean and easy to use tool that will make sharing and turning in documents much easier in a classroom. It is still quite basic, but looks like a good foundation for Google to build upon to create a powerful learning management system. See the video linked below for Google's quick demo of Classroom.

We don't own any guns. We also live in Canada.

I have some thoughts though.

If crazy, angry, bad people want to do BAD things they will do them. If they don't have any problem shooting and killing people, they won't have any problem buying or stealing illegal guns. They also won't have a problem shooting innocent people or law enforcement.

What I want to know is how there are SO many guns on the streets? Are all these guns lawfully obtained? Where did they come from? Are the shootings done by people who purchased the guns legally?

I also want to know about the crazy people. Were those people exposed to video games? Are they mental health patients? Are they are pharmaceuticals (prescribed or otherwise)?

I think shootings are about more than just guns. They are about people who are hurting and or angry. People who are broken and in need of a savior.

To say guns are the problem is wrong. Guns are not the problem. The problem is there are people who are lost and many of them don't even know they are lost and they just take out their pain on the world in whatever way presents itself.

So how can we solve the problem? We can start by not being part of it. We can start by being there for people who are hurting, lost, angry, broken and helping to meet their needs (His hands extended). We can start by being the body of Christ like we are supposed to be.

We can stop trying to make these shootings a political cause and start making them a personal cause by looking around us. We can open our eyes and let Him show us who is hurting around us and needing a little more love or patience or understanding. We can give a little more, sacrifice a little more, share a little more, open ourselves up a little more.

I don't usually write about guns... but it has been in the news like crazy and on my mind.

What say you?
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Tuesday that President Barack Obama is "always" looking for opportunities to act "unilaterally" again on guns, though he would prefer to work with Congress. “The president's goal is to look for opportunities to act administratively, unilaterally using his executive authority...

Cool cakes, dude.  Check out this former math teacher's excellent pancake making skills.  His kids will never be the same.  How will they ever just  enjoy a simple round pancake?  But, cool, right?

I told you so.

A team from the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) arrived in Trout River on Thursday to start dismantling the carcass of a blue whale that ended up on the town's shoreline.

Using knives and meathooks, 12 people, including ROM staff, contractors from Researching Casting International, and some local hires from Trout River and Woody Point, worked to carve the bones out of the whale carcass.

See the fascinating photos of the process here:

Google+'s Yonatan Zunger: Google+ Remains a Crucial Asset

People are asking for a clear word from top people at Google+ about the future of Google+. You couldn't get much clearer than this statement today from the Chief Architect of Google+ +Yonatan Zunger (from a comment on this thread:

"...the press has ludicrously overstated (read: made up) the situation. G+ is just as much a crucial asset as it was a month ago: social is critical to our success. It doesn't compete for ad-watching time; people aren't thinking "gee, I could either spend time with my friends, or go click on some ads." Instead, it boosts people's investment in the system, helps them know other people better, and helps us in turn know them better, so that we can help them do a wide range of things. I'm not afraid about our ability to make money. :)

"Also, contra TechCrunch, Bradley [+Bradley Horowitz, G+ Product Head] wasn't demoted at all. If I had to stack-rank the org, I'd say that before this, he was the #3 guy at G+, and now he's the #2 guy. Bez [+Dave Besbris ] was always there, he just didn't do as much publicly visible stuff. (cf my post about him)"
