Uganda Public Rescue Foundation (UPRF) a non-profit Human Rights organization that offers Legal aid to indigent persons in Uganda, conceived in the year 2008 in the context of justice law and order sector (JLOS) reforms as one of the new models for improved administration of justice in Uganda. The foundation envisions a society in which disadvantaged people have improved access to justice in fulfillments of constitutional requirements. It has the mission of establishing national mechanisms for public defense of poor people and human rights promotion.

HThe Uganda Public Rescue Foundation (UPRF) is a non-government, Non-proffit organization that was conceived on the idea of Promoting human rights and providing legal aid to the indigent persons and vulnerable i.e Disabled, women, men, elders and children in Uganda.  Since 2008 when the foundation was Established, UPRF has been for its association with the work of   promoting Universal Respect for human rights, offer legal Aid services in Higher Courts and the Chief Magistrate’s Courts.  UPRF works alongside the Judiciary, the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), police and prisons in the dispensation of criminal justice for the less privileged (the poor) to bridge the gap of civil society on the demand side of justice delivery.
The Purpose of UPRF is centered on offering professional and standardized legal aid services to disadvantaged people charged with offences that carry a sentence of 10 years imprisonment or more.  Over the year and fight for human rights, UPRF has made some significance achievements such as the significant increase in the number of cases handled in comparison to the total registered.
The organizations’ scope of work covers free litigation, legal advice, Land assistance, Succession, Petty Commercial Claims, Legal technical services, Public interest Litigation, Mediation, Criminal defence, prison visits, human rights sensitization, counselling, behaviour change communication, research, advocacy/lobbying and mediation for the poor charged with criminal offences with a focus on poor people charged with capital or serious offences: murder, kidnapping, rape and defilement.

The Uganda Public Rescue Foundation was established in the year 2008 as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the Uganda Public Rescue Foundation (UPRF) fights for human rights and offer legal aid to the indigent persons in all matters of law civil and criminal. The organization’s mission is fighting for human rights and improving access to justice for the poor people charged with criminal offences in fulfillment of constitutional requirements and also gives legal aid to organizations in need of legal services in Uganda.
Our overall goal is to fight for human rights and improve mechanisms for effective legal aid services in Uganda and the purpose is to offer professional and standardized legal services to the disadvantaged, charged with offences that carry a sentence of 2 years imprisonment or more or where there is a serious human rights issues, particularly in the higher courts and the Chief Magistrate’s courts. Un-conditional access to justice, cost effectiveness, completeness, quality and Constitutionality, are key values that guide our work. 
UPRF VISION
A Ugandan society where all human rights are respected promoted and defended to ensure access to justice for all is a reality irrespective of gender, age, ethnicity, religion or socio-economic status.
UPRF MISSION
• To become a leading provider of legal services of choice in order to ensure access to justice for the poor and vulnerable people so as to promote the socio-economic development of Uganda.
• To work with the poor and vulnerable communities especially women, children, disabled, to active justice, equality and equity though legal Aid provision, legal human rights education, research and advocacy net working and co-a lotion building.

              UPRF STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• To provide high legal aid services to indigent men, women and children.

• To provide legal aid services to prisoners or persons who due to financial constraints
• To promote universal respect for human rights, implementation for the provisions of the universal declaration of human rights in Uganda.
• To carry out investigations through registered private detectives agencies and therefore give reports to the concerned authorities on matter of human rights in Uganda.
• To act as arbitrators between the offenders and the victim
• To provide a forum for discussion through a close exchange between human rights organizations, community, individuals and government officials.
