The comment box here encourages the customer to "Describe your experience". I have dined in places from Sydney, Australia and Tokyo, Japan to Brussells, Belgium & Paris, France. I have encountered many different styles and types of foods as varied in quality and intensity as their staff and location. I had never had Mediterranean and I was looking forward to my first experience. The Host permitted myself and my date 3 minutes before opening. A pleasant surprise as most American restaurants seem to dread opening their doors. The owner was just entering the kitchen with a hand full of fresh Cilantro which she playfully offered to us. We playfully declined to which she playfully replied, "Then get out!" The service was excellent. The food, music, decor and ambiance were perfect. We started with a serving of warm bread with olive oil. Just as we finished them our Falafel appetizer arrived followed by our main course. (All well timed) I had the Sausage and Blue Cheese Flat Bread. My date had the Pumpkin Ravioli with Caramalized Onion. The blends of flavor were balanced superbly. My date and I are of a routinely Organic-Only diet and rarely dine out as most foods in most establishments don't often use the best ingredients. And this inevitably leads to expected indigestion for us. No such issue at Arugula. My only regret is that I failed to leave adequate room for dessert as the reviews below make me wish I had. This location embodies the essence of what one could expect from international experiences. Treat your staff as you would treat good friends and family and you will be rewarded with the memories you walked in hoping to find. "Iontaobhas sa Taithí" Thank you Arugula. We will definitely return.

rude owner. please do not hang up on me again. treat people like people. you don't have to like what they have to say but you should at least hear them out. that is all that i ask.

Went on what was supposed to be a romantic date. Prolly should've known better than to expect romance on a Saturday night??? Sat at table about 1 foot away from the host station, a very small host station where waiters congregated. All the tables were close together. It was too loud to hear my date. Waiter silently stormed off when I replied that I wasn't quite ready to order as I just sat down and was taking off my jacket. Food was ok, but bland. Wanted dessert, but couldn't stand the noise or asking my date to keep repeating himself.

We must have ordered the wrong dishes, because after 10+ plates, we couldn't find anything much to like at Arugula. The flavors were all around bland, simply non-existent, or over the top. Of all the plates that we tried, a couple comes to mind - The falafel was lackluster while the supporting pita was extremely over seasoned - to the point where I felt like I was going to either choke or spit it out across the table onto one of my mates. The couscous wasn't any better, but at least it provided an alternative to eating something that tasted like straight oregano. The salad was okay, and the "squeaky cheese" was good - but how can something that squeaks in your mouth go wrong? The flank steak was good, but the fries drew no distinction from those found at a McDonald's near you. Not everything at Arugula was bad though. We liked our waitress, who was upbeat and friendly. We also enjoyed the Croque Madam, but really, a fried egg will make anything taste good. The soap in the bathroom is apparently "nice" as the Lady of the Table put it, but we weren't at a Bed Bath and Beyond. We felt terrible for having ordered so much food, only to have the waitress take it away. What a waste of quality ingredients.

Found this little gem of a restaurant by accident this weekend and LOVED it! I've lived in Europe and this place really does remind me of being over there. Tables are very close together and cozy, the waitstaff and owner were wonderful (not "fake" nice but honestly nice once you started a conversation with them) and the food was delicious! I have to comment that I normally eat all organic food and on the few occasions when I do eat out I usually have a horrible stomach ache afterward because of all the chemicals, added flavorings, etc in the conventional foods normally served. Not at Arugula! I felt great after I ate here. The food tasted real, had wonderful and surprising flavor combinations and was presented beautifully. I highly recommend it! We had the falafal, pumpkin ravioli and sausage/fig/Asiago flatbread - everything was amazing but the flatbread was truly a masterpiece. Thanks for a wonderful evening Arugula! :)

I've been eating here for close to 10 years. As a foodie, I put them in the top 5 of restaurants in West Hartford.

I have been to this place more consistently than anywhere in the state of Connecticut. Try the moules-frites, the lasagna, the hamburger, caesar salad, any of the desserts. Good wine list too. The quality of the food has remained consistent and the interior is really cozy, especially on a cold day. Mmmmm, now I'm dreaming about the lasagna!
