I think Ramsay wrote it, but I think the facts about Stannis and such are based on a misleading letter HE received from the Maester with Stannis. I think Stannis forced that maester to craft a letter to Ramsay declaing Stannis dead but claiming Theon and "Arya" got away and are headed to Castle Black. The facts about Mance and his spear wives might be true, sadly, but I don't think the facts about Stannis are.

Also... king's blood and Theon... I am wondering if this might be what Mel needs to resurrect Jon. Theon might even voluntarily give it if he hears what is at stake.

Don't forget that, in the books, Shireen is still at Castleblack

My prediction for the Riverlands plot:  Brienne saves Sansa and Theon. Gilly and Sam come along and Sansa and Brienne join them, Theon leading Ramsay's dogs off in another direction (bit of redemption). In the Riverlands Sam's dad gives Sam a bad time about the Maester thing, Brienne a bad time about the female soldier thing, then decides Sansa needs to be sent to King's landing (at which point Sansa and Brienne take off and join the Brotherhood without Banners where Sansa then takes up the Stoneheart plot)

Oh yay!  I'm glad you've at least done a season one. I've missed your reviews this season. My broad assessment of the season is they should have slowed the heck down.I didn't love all the changes, but I think every one of them could have benefitted from giving us some time to invest in the characters or motivation changes involved. Particularly the sand snakes. It was a hot mess in Dorne, but had we gotten to know each, I could have ignored a lot of the ridiculum.

I guess while I didn't hate the show and didn't hate all the changes (I can get along with the short cut for Tyrion and I get the WHY for Sansa going to Winterfell) but I can totally agree that what they really messed up on was they RUSHED. Had they slowed the heck down, things would have been more understandable and easier to take. They should have done these books in two seasons, not one.

Nice summary of the options. I don't believe for a minute he is really dead. And for what I think, I keep going back to one of Melissandre's visions:  The flames crackled softly, and in their crackling she heard the whispered name Jon Snow. His long face floated before her, limned in tongues of red and orange, appearing and disappearing again, a shadow half- seen behind a fluttering curtain. Now he was a man, now a wolf, now a man again. But the skulls were here as well, the skulls were all around him.

In another of her visions (Hard Home), the "skulls" all around are solidly identified as others, so I think Jon will warg into ghost until such a time as someone resurrects him. I think because his "soul" is in Ghost he won't lose himself like Beric or Lady Stoneheart--it has a grounding. When he is a man again, I believe he will either be north of the wall or else the white walkers and their army will have gotten past it (with Stannis likely dead and the Wildlings and Watch set to war because Jon was all that kept peace, that seems all but imminent, actually)

BOOK SPOILER WARNING:

Jon Snow IS the Song of Ice and Fire. The books have a vision from Melissandre : he was a man, then a wolf, then a man again. I think in the books this is why Mel burns Shireen ("to raise Azor Ahai"--which Stannis thinks is HIM so he agrees). For the show to kill him when he is part of the end game wouldn't make any sense at all. BUT I think he may be "in Ghost" for most of season 6 so Kit has the "no, Jon Snow will not be back next season" line that is (at least mostly) true--he gets a year off (with the exception of maybe the last episode in which he goes from Ghost back into his body, but Mel names him Azor Ahai... or something like that.

Oh, I think the actress is related to Arya's story. Have you read the pre-released Mercy chapter from Winds of Winter?

You may be right on the Red Priestess, but another option, if they are merging Euron and Victarion, is merging the Dusky woman and Mororro and have her traveling with Euron.

I totally thought Umber for those boys, too. I saw a recent interview with Art Parkinson who plays Rickon earlier and he was asked if he will be back to Game of Thrones. He adorably answers "I'm not allowed to talk about that." I think though, it will be Davos who goes to look for him there.

I'd be on board for an Under the Dome watch--haven't seen it but have been curious. And I LOVE books, too. I have been reading mostly YA lately as I'm trying to master writing the things--best series in the last year is Maggie Stiefvader's The Raven Cycle, IMHO--a fourth in the series comes in February. Am currently reading Marie Lu's Legend and it is amazing. I am also happy to read thriller, mystery, suspense, horror, very well done fantasy (but I'm picky) or sci fi that leans toward dystopian (LOVE dystopian) or medical rather than space--I can watch space shows but the space books tend to not have heavy enough character focus.

Totally hadn't heard Baelish as a Blackfyre before but I believe Varys is (I believe Illaryio Mopatis married his sister and that marriage is where fake Aegon sprang from and that is why they are working to put Aegon on the throne--a Blackfyre.  But I think they raised Aegon to think he really was Aegon (and Jon Conn believes it, too).

BOOK SPOILER WARNIING:

I really think Kit had a lot of legal qualifiers in there. I think though most of season 6 it will not be Jon Snow, but Ghost we see, then maybe last episode, Mel will manage to wake him. (Or lady Snoneheart?) Mel has a vision about him that specifically predicts this:  The flames crackled softly, and in their crackling she heard the whispered name Jon Snow. His long face floated before her, limned in tongues of red and orange, appearing and disappearing again, a shadow half- seen behind a fluttering curtain. Now he was a man, now a wolf, now a man again. But the skulls were here as well, the skulls were all around him. (the skulls have been established as Mel's way she sees the others but she doesn't see Jon as one--just surrounded)

My biggest shock was the Stannis stuff, largely because as a book reader, Stannis is in such a totally different place at the end of Dance. My favorite was Arya--I had called at the beginning of the season when Meryn became obvious that the result would be Blind Beth. I think non-readers are pessimistic because they haven't had years to think about what comes next for all these characters, but I loved the episode, too.
