This One Habit Transformed My Life

Financial security can be paid for two ways. Get a job or become an entrepreneur.

Starting a business is often seen as a big bang approach. High risk and a big financial commitment. Find a bricks and mortar premises, commit to an expensive lease, hire staff and start marketing and selling your products and services.

Today all you need is a laptop, an Internet connection and just one idea.

Which one do I prefer?

I have done both. One trapped me and the other gave me the financial and mental freedom I had been seeking for decades.

It came out of one habit that I committed to every day.

3 Books That Will Transform Your Thinking on Success Habits

Did you ever regret agreeing to something?

Maybe you said yes when you should have said “no”.

You said yes to a meeting that you knew was going to be a waste of time. It was unproductive and stopped you getting “your work” done.

You didn’t say no to that urge to opening up your emails and responding every few minutes. Then you got to the end of the day and the non-urgent but high priority goals were not achieved.

You ended up saying yes to a project from a customer that had an unrealistic deadline that you knew was wrong. Then they turned on you and blamed you for not achieving their goals.

Learning to say no is a skill that we need to nurture.

Life is a constant tension between conflicting priorities. Making the right decisions. Weeding out the non essentials from the priority tasks that will make a difference to our lives.

We need to be better at saying yes to dedicating our valuable time to doing the work that matters. Declining other people’s demands.

Saying “No”

It is often the difference between success and failure.

That is just one of the success habits that we need to nuture. Here are 3 books that will transform your thinking on success habits.

I couldn't handle it.

The pressure of closing the business, being hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and in the middle of a divorce was overwhelming.

I felt like crawling into a cave.

Hiding.

I was in an ocean of pain.

Then I turned to someone I trusted.

Known all my life.

My brother.

I asked.

What should I do?

It was an answer I didn't want to hear.

Keep going.

Your kids need you. You need to be strong.

But how do you do that?

I resorted to the 3 things that had worked for me in the past.

Read books that inspired me.

Exercised till I dropped.

Distracted myself by hanging out with fun and successful people.

It worked.

Still does.

So keep going when all seems lost.

Persist.

Pain doesn't define you.

Your attitude to it does.
