With a focus on carry-out, this place is as bare bones as it gets--but the sushi is good. The fish is pretty fresh and get full on about $10 of food. As compared to larger sushi restaurants, the variety here is more limited. When I prefer less decadence, I request the no-mayo versions of the rolls and the chef is always accommodating. Kamikaze and Unagi rolls are my favorites. Large tray orders are quite popular. Maybe I'll order one for my next potluck.

This dingy, hole-in-the-wall, kinda sketchy looking place is one of my favorite places to grab quick, cheap, but fresh and good sushi. Prices are really reasonable, considering the amounts you get. There are quite a lot of options and all the fish tastes very fresh. I saw a few people come in just to purchase fish to bring home and cut themselves, which is nice since there seems to be very few places that sell sushi-grade fish. They also sell sushi accompaniments for those who want to do sushi at home, including fresh wasabi, pickled ginger (white and pink), soy sauce (regular and low sodium). Fish-wise, they sell everything from tuna to uni at great prices.

I totally love this place! It's so hard to find a good and affordable sushi place, mainly because the two generally don't go hand in hand. That said, if you're looking for something fancy, this isn't the place. Its no-frills philosophy helps keep the cost down while still providing quality food and service. If you get a chance and it's your first time, I'd give the chirashi a try as you'll get to taste just how good all their sashimi is. :D Most people order their food to go, but there's also minimal seating available. You can place your order up until 7:15pm. :D

I'm not sure why everyone raves about this place. I thought the fish would be incredibly fresh or something, but it's really the same quality as every other budget sushi bar. Prices are reasonable for the quality of fish and you can grab and go, which is great. Don't get the uni... it is not fresh! The tuna and yellowtail looks a couple of days old. Chirashi is a pretty good deal if you like that. Rolls are slightly overpriced.

While walking on Irving, my girlfriend and I decided we wanted some japanese food after looking at the sign that said yum yum. Both of us ate alot of dim sum during the morning so we decided to split a Chirashi Bowl. The chirashi bowl was huge when I first got it and was definitely thinking this is the best price for the amount of fresh fish we were about to eat. There was a lot of rice but it was overflowing with fresh fish and sashimi. The restaurant looked empty but it's also a place where you can pick up fresh fish, and not just sushi. Prices may vary depending on the season! Will definitely come back again to try different kinds of fish.

As someone that promotes Japanese food for a living and been to Japan several times, I have to say that Yum Yum Fish has some of the freshest fish I've ever had. There's a reason for that. They get their fish delivered every morning. In addition to selling sushi, they sell their fish by the lbs to customers and some local restaurants. There are only three tables inside so most people order take-out. I know some people may be scared off by the meat market looking atmosphere and maybe was expecting a typical Japanese restaurant ambiance. There's nothing glamorous about the looks of the place but the fish is one of the best this side of the Pacific.

After struggling to find a decent place for sushi on a Sunday afternoon, we stumbled upon this hole in the wall sushi joint in the heart of Outer Sunset. Although, it's not japanese owned, they service decent sushi for very cheap! I ordered 4 rolls under $20- what a steal?! There's limited seating but it seems like most people only come here to pick up their to-go orders. The owners will also let you know which fishes are fresh for the day. I would definitely come back if I ever happen to be in the area. Yum Yum in my Tummy ;)

Yum yum fish offers the freshest fish ever! They also sell their own fish if you want to make your own sushi rolls. The salmon is the best deal ever with about $13/lb. So much salmon and so fresh! Can't resist.
