Ever wondered what a Web Server running on a Raspberry Pi might cost? I have put up my RPi Project Costs on my little Web Server running on a Model B Raspberry Pi. Costs are $AUD specific.
If like me you wonder how much it would cost to setup a little web server on the RPi (and also if like me you want to do it as a hobby project and want a good but cheap setup) then this post might give you some directions. I basically hunted on Ebay and Googled for a lot of the parts & other ...

Yea. Was curious what math you did to figure out that 8 batteries should be enough? This was one of the many things I saw with the pi that id like to try.

After a lots of googling and little bit of playing around. I finally have my little old Raspberry Pi setup as a WebServer!

It is running off my router's USB power and hosting a simple/basic WordPress blog style website. With my google apps domain being forwarded to my sometimes static WAN IP.

Very happy with the current setup and amazed by the RPi power. So far it has not skipped a beat and loads images/pages without a hitch!

The eventual plan is to run this WebServer off solar panels using rechargeable batteries.

Great work Raspberry Pi & thanks to everyone who shared their little bit of info on here!

Had a bit of spare time the other day and came across this. Required a few SSH commands to the RPi via Putty. And in no time this came up! I have setup the Python Cron Job to log the temperature every 15 mins onto the RPi SD Card and the Webserver does the hosting. If you read the instructions ...

+Anthony Morris, I don't personally use it, but I get traffic and keyword search hits from there. I don't like Bing but I won't ignore it as a site owner either.

Hi all. A question about XBMC Air Play. Can someone please advise if air play has the ability to play audio/videos from an iPhone/iPod without any user intervention in the iPhone/iPod?

As in, is it possible to have a XBMC playlist of media on the iPhone/iPod.

Many thanks.
A.

I'm pretty sure the AirPlay protocol on the iPhones and iPads is implemented as a client and can only send audio/video/pictures to a server such as XBMC. The server cannot make requests of the client.

This may not apply for AppleTV but you definitely can't do this with XBMC. You would have to have some type of UPnP server running on your iDevice.
